Deb, we were devastated to hear of Declan's sudden passing. Our hearts are breaking for you.
David and I will treasure our memories of Declan in our hearts forever.
Life on Cedarholme was much fuller having had him for a neighbour and great friend. He was funny, kind hearted, creative, intelligent, hardworking and loyal.
We all enjoyed many an afternoon or evening in Dave's, 'Mancave' and summer nights around the fire pit. Angie usually accompanied Declan and she would hideout in her 'den' behind the flowers our knock over and drink someone's beer. Then there was the time she ate Declan, Dave and Jim's shish-ka-bobs, wooden skewers and all!! And of course let's not forget the Hallowe'ens with our pumpkin carving contests and the long weekend fireworks displays.
Our deepest condolences to you and your family Deb. Declan will be missed be everyone who knew him.
Love, David Himes and Frances Carter

Debra and family:
I knew Declan mostly as a kid and teen living on Orton Park. We all had so much fun as kids in that neighbourhood, and Declan was definitely the ring leader. We had lots of freedom and got into a bit of trouble, but always fun trouble. Lots of good times were had at our pool and in the ravine. I remember climbing onto a tarp and sliding down the hill on Lawrence under the bridge, going over pop cans and quickly getting out of the tarp before it hit the creek at the bottom. Good idea? Probably not. But lots of fun!
Thank you, Declan, for fond memories.

I was lucky enough to be Declans friend since childhood 51 years ago.
Declan even at a tender age was a glowing light that drew you in.
His family was kind and generous and I enjoyed my childhood going to the farm . I always looked forward to Friday afternoon as I knew the weekend would be another adventure of Declan doubling me around on his 1961 Honda 50, playing baseball with the kids in Mr Shannons field and chasing down our model airplanes through the fields. I can say never once was there a boring moment.
Declans personality was addictive. He always found a way to make you laugh. He was creative, witty and under his sometimes over the top antics he had compassion. Declan had a kind heart.
If you were ever at an event and you did not know where Declan was all you had to do was listen for the gut breaking laughter and you knew Declan was at the center. He was easy to find.
It is rare in this world that a person over fifty years kept all these friends, Declan was unique and there will never be another like him.
I am sorry for your loss Debbie and Leslie's family.
Just know that in Declans life he brought much joy to us and he will always be missed.
To you Declan, you were my first best friend I ever had.
I will miss you always.
Your Friend Mark Levert

Dear Debra and family,
The Glynn's bought my parents farmhouse in Marmora 55 +/- years ago and that is how I ran into Declan. We became childhood friends doing what country kids do. Declan was tenacious to say the least. From hanging upside down from a tree limb (to nail in a board on our treehouse) to chasing myself and a buddy through our corn field while on his Honda 50 moped! We had mistakenly pelted him with crab apples. Big mistake!
Unfortunately we lost touch for many years. Fortunately he came for a visit just a couple of weeks ago to see how we faired from the July 24 tornado. It was like old times with lots of stories and laughter. I am so glad I got to see him then.
RIP Declan

Deb,
We didn't get to know Declan as his friends had. We did get to know however, how committed he was to the Terry Fox charity having raised so much in his support of it. We also how much he loved you, your nieces and all the other children in your lives. Anyone who knew him also knew how much he loved animals and how much he missed his dogs.
He definitely had a big heart. He was a hard worker who was also fastidious in his work and was gratified with the end result. His work is done now and may he rest in peace.
Our hearts go out to you and your families. May your fond memories help lift you up as you continue on in your path ahead.
With love and our deepest sympathy,
Hope & Gord Ivany

I first met Declan in 1981with his friend Bob McGirr. Declan was one of a kind, he made you feel loved and welcome. He was best man at our wedding, God father to our son Andrew and a great friend. Deb and Dec were always there for our sons birthdays, bobbing for apples. You were there for mine and Bob's 40th birthdays. Pink Floyd concert. Fun times at the farm.So many memories. He had a laugh you could never forget and as his friends have said a quick wit. Declan you will be truly missed. Deb please accept my condolences on Declans passing. Love Karen McGirr ❤️.

Declan was a very funny guy, with a keen eye for absurdity and a gift for milking it for all it was worth. But what I remember most is not the way he could literally and mercilessly make me laugh so hard I pissed myself, it is the knowing look he shot me when he was doing it, usually accompanied by "eh? eh? know what I mean?" or something like that. There was intimacy and warmth and wisdom in that look. That was Declan for me from the time we became fast friends in grade 7 - really, really different kids, and then really, really different teenagers and young men, but somehow the same, too, when he invited me into his world. It wasn't just effing around. It was his way of sharing what it is like to be human, of making a connection, I believe, that was as important to Declan as getting the laugh. Yeah, I knew what you meant, you crazy bastard. Of course I did. You always let me in on the joke. Thanks for that and everything else we enjoyed together.

Dear Deb and Family.
Myself, Donna and Jace send our deepest condolences to you at this time.
Declan was a huge part of all our lives.
Declan was part of my life from the age of 12.
Between Leo and Declan, the crazy fun times never seem to end.
From shopping in Marmora IGA making crazy farm animal noises, the many weekends at "The Farm", trips to Mexico, and many more zany times.
These memories will stay with all of us for eternity.
I am so grateful for the honor of knowing Declan since I was 12years old.
My friend Declan, you will be missed by many.
We all have been left with wonderful memories of you and the Glynn Family.
Rest in peace buddy, say hi to Bernie from us souls down here.
Have a cold pint with all the people that left here for the great party up there.
