Obituary of Joanne Mary McDonell

McDONELL, JOANNE MARY    Joanne died in peace at Mount Sinai Hospital on June 4, 2021. Born in Toronto, June 2, 1965 to Robert and Mary McDonell, she is survived by her loving father  Robert Joseph McDonell and her siblings,  Anne Marie Wilson (Ron),  Patricia Perek (John) and Robert John McDonell.  She was a loving Aunt to Sam, Catherine, Samantha, and Great Aunt to Oliver.  Joanne was a person you could count on and devoted her life to helping others.  She provided care for her mom and dad and was always there to support her brother and sisters in their times of need.  She taught at St. Francis Xavier School in Markham where she was loved by staff and students alike.   Joanne had a special spark for life and loved to laugh; she adored family and friends.  Joanne was blessed with the love of numerous members of the extended McDonell, Newton and Schwalm families.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.  Due to COVID restrictions, her immediate family will honor Joanne’s life at a small service at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home on Friday June 11, 2021 at 11 am. When COVID restrictions are lifted, a mass will be devoted to Joanne at St. Patrick's Church at a later date.  To honor Joanne’s legacy of caring for children and in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to: Covenant House Toronto.  Covenant House will request an email address to send an ecard.  Please use:  pperek@cox.net
