I was so sorry to hear of Joanne’s passing. While it’s been years since I’ve seen Joanne, I will always remember her big smile and infectious laugh. When Anne Marie and Joanne visited the Whall clan up at Wasaga Beach when we were kids, we all had such fun hanging out together at the cottage and on the beach. May the memories of Joanne sustain you - she will never be forgotten.

Our deepest condolences to Joanne's family. It was so sad to hear the passing of Joanne. She had touched on many people's lives. Whenever we bumped into each other in the driveway, we would chatted for hours. She was a loving daughter, caring teacher, more than a wonderful neighbour for close to two decades, we will miss her.

I am greatly saddened and heartbroken hearing about the passing of Joanne. She was my next door neighbour for many years. Joanne and I developed a fond relationship and would look out for each other all the time. We used to have long conversations in person, over the phone, while shoveling snow, or just standing outside. We never missed a Christmas without exchanging gifts. She was a very kind and caring person and we will miss her very much.

Sincere sympathy and condolences to Joanne's family. It was devastating to hear of Joanne's death and I can only begin to imagine how you will miss her. I met and worked with Joanne 30 years ago and we remained friends since that time. She was a wonderful human being, full of kindness, empathy and always ready to help anyone in need. She had a great sense of humour, was full of fun and always ready to party. We had happy times together and I will always think of her with love and gratitude for the good times. I was fortunate to have known her and call her my friend. It was a privilege to be her friend. I will always miss her.

I am shocked and heartbroken to hear the news of Joanne’s passing. Joanne was simply an integral part of my life for so many years. She laughed easily and often and we had such fun … grade 8 trip to Mt. Alverno where we met, high school at SJMP where we shared the same last name so were always “connected”, early morning band practices, driving school, baseball at Don Valley Village, “aerobics”, camping/cottage weekends that became road trips to Highland Games, St. Jacob’s and the Angel Inn in Niagara-on-the-Lake. We shared a love of all things Christmas, family, music and dancing (no one could “shimmy” quite like Joanne!), and there was never a shortage of conversation!
All my deepest sympathies to you Mr. McDonell, Anne Marie, Shaw and Robbie(!) and your families on this terrible loss … Joanne left an indelible impression on me, and I know on many others. Know that she will never be forgotten and will be remembered always with great fondness and a smile. Hugs to you all in this dreadful time of no gatherings.

Dear Uncle Bob, Anne Marie, Shaw and Robbie,
My mom and I keep saying how hard it is to believe Joanne is gone, because she was always so full of life. Joanne was always the liveliest person at a party, the first you would hear laughing, and the kindest most generous person in the room. We loved her dearly and are so deeply grieved at her loss. On behalf of my mom and myself, our hearts go out to all of you at this terrible time — we’re sending our love and share your sorrow for the loss of the bright and amazing soul that was Joanne.

I am so sad to hear the news of Joanne's passing. My heart goes out to the entire family. I can't think of my Elementary/High School years without thinking of Joanne and Shaw, and the fun we had growing thru life together. Our sleepovers, baseball and tennis at the park, biking around, swimming in your pool, pin pong in the basement, cottage weekends, our first adventures to the Mall, High School dances, endless hours on the TTC to St. Joe's and back, and we never had a shortage of things to talk about! The double sister pack that Cyndi and I had wth Joanne and Shaw will forever be a time I will look upon with a smile and an appreciation for how comfortable and easy our friendship was. Joanne was real, kindhearted, fun, friendly and driven. She always took an interest to ask questions, and be a good listener, but also knew when to give a wise crack and a laugh. She has left her mark in our hearts and will always be a special person to me. Bob, Anne Marie (Ron), Shaw(John), Rob and Lisa Cotton I am thinking of you all with love and am so sorry for your loss. Love Annmarie (and the Delahey family).

Dear Anne Marie and family,
Our family was sad to learn of Joanne’s passing and our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. We have many happy memories of summer afternoons spent with Joanne or ‘Auntie Joanne’ as my children always called her. Spending the day with Joanne always guaranteed laughter and good times. Another highlight for us was meeting up in Florida to watch Tampa Bay play hockey. All these memories will be treasured forever. Joanne was a great friend and Auntie to all.
