Passed away peacefully on Sunday April 26, 2020 at the age of 85. Beloved mother of Frances and her husband Scot, David, Desmond and his wife Maria, and Jackie and her husband Mike. Proud grandmother of Michael, Jackie, John, Alex, Claudia, and Jess. She was the loving daughter of the late John and Elizabeth and devoted sister to John and Clare. Marie came to Canada in 1955 from Dublin, Ireland and married Desmond, the love of her life. They had four children together between 1958 and 1967 and became grandparents to six grandchildren. They spent 64 loving years together until Desmond’s passing in 2019, which left a void in her heart. Over the years, Marie held office jobs and eventually ran her own clothing business. Marie was most proud of her four children, who she loved immensely. Her grandchildren brought her great joy- they knew being at “Nanny’s house” meant french fries, ice cream and playing store. Marie was known to be poised and polished, with a passion for beauty and fashion. Marie carried herself with elegance, grace, and composure. Her favourite meal of the day was dessert- she could always be found with a bowl full of whipped cream and a smile. Marie had a great sense of humour, a kind heart, and a warm inviting personality that will be missed by many. Despite the family’s grief during this time, we know she is now at peace in the loving arms of her husband Desmond, where she longed to be.. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at MSH and to the staff at Amica Unionville for the kindness and care they provided. There will be no funeral service at this time,  A celebration of life will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Markham Stouffville Hospital.
