I had the privilege of being able to work with Kathryn Davey for several years when we were both employed at York University. Because of the nature of our jobs, the initial relationship was adversarial; soon that changed to having great respect for each other. Eventually, although we never compromised our professional relationship we discovered that we truly liked working together. We each had our first grandchild around the same time and that became yet another item for conversation. During that time, I also met her son, Ryan while he was a student and came to work for the department in which I was involved. I was disappointed when Kathryn left to assume employment elsewhere and we continued to be friends but we met far too infrequently. Through Ryan, we kept in touch and I was saddened when her health had deteriorated. My thoughts are with you and my condolences to the family.
