My deepest condolences to Rick's family. Eventhoug we never worked together, he was a warm soul and kind person to have around Scotiabank. We always shared stories of his grand child and my daughter who have a similar age. Rest in peace, you would be missed.

Dear Cherly, Heather, and Dan: I wish to convey to you my deepest condolences for Rick’s early and unexpected departure. I met him couple years ago thru work and our dealings evolved into an honest, sincere, and friendly relationship. Even though we worked with sensitive issues under high stress, Rick always handled them with skill and patience that managed to take off sharp edges. He was gentleman who treated people with respect and valued their opinion. I am deeply sad for your lost, but at the same time thankful for the opportunity to have met him. He always spoke with love about each of you and especially of his grandson. I was expecting him to visit us in Florida one day post-retirement with Cherly to meet our families. We will never forget Rick because he was truly a unique individual Sincerely, Alejandro Pinto (Palm Beach Gardens, FL)

My deepest condolences to Rick's family. Rick was an exceptional person, friend and human. I will miss a beautiful soul, full of love and faith, who ascended to heaven, away from us but closed to God. I pray for the eternal repose of Rick and he will be alive in the happy memories of me and my wife.

To rick's family please accept my sincere condolences. Since I have known Rick I have found him to be sincere caring and very knowledgeable. He was a true friend and although we have never met in person I felt as though I really knew him. It saddened me to hear of his passing. I came to work early expecting an email in response to one I had sent him, only to see an email announcing his death. I will miss him. It still hurts, but I hope you find comfort in knowing how many other lives he touched and how many others valued his friendship and will miss him. Condolences are also extended from the other members of my team here in Barbados.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Fitzpatrick family at Rick's passing. He's gone too soon. Rick was my Manager for eight years at Sears and as I have told everyone, that I went to the great university of Rick Fitzpatrick and graduated with honors. He was my mentor, my teacher and a friend. Forever teaching and never expecting anything but excellence. He was a consummate professional, kind and pleasant. I still have the $1.25 taped to his business card that he gave me approx 20 years ago because of a private joke/bet he had with his wife. He always spoke fondly of her and loved her deeply. He was a great man. As Bob Marley said, "The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively" He was one of my heroes and I will dearly miss him.

My deepest condolences to the Fitzpatrick Family. I have worked with Rick at Sears and JP Morgan Chase, I enjoyed working with him; he was always professional and helpful. He had a great sense of humor and always had a big smile his face. We had chatted about his move to Wasaga, where I was looking forward to reconnecting in the future. Cheryl and family, you have so many wonderful memories to cherish. There is another side of grief…where the tears still flow, not as often… where memories bring smiles not just sadness…where blessing are recognized not just struggles…where joy and peace are present not just sorrow..where you are remembered, not just mourned

It is so sad to hear that Rick passed away. Rick was a great person and I feel privileged to have worked for him for 28 years. I learned so much from him as my manager. He always treated me so well, more like family than co-workers. To his family, keep strong and just know that you were blessed to have such a loving, caring person in your family. Rest in Peace my friend you will be sadly missed by all.

Dear Cheryl, Heather, Dan and little Patrick, I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a wonderful, caring man. Condolences to the entire family. I hired Rick at ScotiaBank and had the honour of getting to know him and his gentle caring ways for the past 5 years. Rick started at Scotia on February 14th, 2011 and he would joke and remind me frequently that he was my "sweetheart hire". He was always passionate, loyal and loved his work. Nothing lit up his face more than to speak of his children, little Patrick and his first lady, Cheryl. He was so proud of you all. He touched so many people throughout the Caribbean and certainly taught us so much about the business. I have many great "memories" working with Rick which I will cherish forever. Even though putting these words down on paper brings tears to my eyes, the memories always put a smile on my face. I am so sorry, Cheryl, that I cannot be with you and your family and to share many other stories of the gentle, soft spoken man. Rest in peace my dear friend. Barb Newhouse (Dominican Republic)

I am deeply saddened and shocked to hear of Rick's sudden passing. He was a kind and caring man. I always told people he reminded me of my late father who was dealt the same unfortunate fate 17 years ago. Rick and the rest of the team at Sears were more than compassionate. I will always remember Rick as the "tough one" who interviewed me for an internal position at Sears (one I thought I failed miserably), but he offered me the position and so much more. Me as the young startup, but with him I learned confidence and strength and business etiquette. Thank you for that Rick. You may no longer be among the living, but your presence will forever be in the hearts of those you love, as well as those you have touched along the way. To the family please accept my deepest condolences and prayers.

Dear Cheryl, Heather and Dan and your family,
My deepest sympathies and condolences to you and your family.
A special tribute to one of my very best friends and the greatest Boss I ever had the pleasure to work with.
A great friend and loved one, like family and a second Father and one of the greatest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet and know. Always very considerate and caring, with a positive personality and thinking of others and putting them before himself.
I will deeply miss you so much my dear friend. Your life ended to soon, which saddens me and leaves an empty spot in my heart and life.
Thank you for your friendship, caring and ongoing support. I will always think of the great times and your wise words of wisdom and advice. You are a life-long mentor and you made work fun and enjoyable and always created a positive team environment.
You've created and left a great legacy behind with all the hearts you have touched and with those whom have had the great pleasure to meet and know you and become your friend and of course your wonderful family, including all the great achievements and successes you have made over the years with Sears, Chase, Scotiabank, etc.
My thoughts and prayers are always with you and your family and friends.
I will always think of you and you will never be forgotten.
Adam Mullin.

Fitzpatrick Family - like so many others, I met Rick more than 30 years ago when working at Sears. Rick was our mentor, our source of information but most of all our friend.
He would always talk about this beautiful bride and how proud he was of his kids. Then of course most recently, his energetic grandson.
Rick you will always be in our thoughts. You were one of a kind my friend.
To the family, please know your memories will be what pulls your through this difficult time.
