Already a year has gone by since we lost our dear Sylvia. Sylvia was my older sister. I miss our great phone calls...where we would always catch up with one another's news and always find something to giggle about. Unfortunately we lived too far apart to spend the time together we should have. I am proud of her for her great business accomplishments, but most of all proud of the beautiful family that she created with Bruce. They were her top priority. RIP dear Sylvia...when you left ...you took a piece of my heart. Love you❤️

I miss Sylvia, the girl who saved me $20K by advising me not to put cedar shakes on my Reeve drive Home. She said "nobody buys a house for the roof!" so I paid $4K for clone shingles and they looked great.
She sold both my houses for a great price as I moved with John to the west end. I remember her presenting brass products at my house on John Dexter and everyone bought. I suggested she go into sales I was so impressed with her sales pitch. And she did and sold houses everywhere in Markham and Unionville....she became famous.
I miss her coming to our bridge club...she liked us girls but was more advanced than us. She always had great stories to tell. I remember Derek and David coming to our house in our basement rec room with my girls Karen and Susan and schoolmates.
I remember Bruce playing the guitar and us all singing and he and his brother Ted working at IBM as I did.
Sylvia helped me through a tough divorce and always invited me and a partner to events and the wonderful dances at the arena. She never judged me so she really was special and loads of fun. Her personality and sense of humour was always present.
I'm so proud to call her my friend...... Thinking of Bruce, Derek and David and families.

My deepest condolences to the Houghton family. Sylvia's enthusiasm and zest for life I will always remember. Many times there would be messages for me to "call Sylvia". She would be looking for some pictures to post in the local newspaper, amongst her listings, congratulating KICKS on a successful dance recital. We would have wonderful conversations and she was always very supportive and enthusiastic about my dance studio. Sylvia's granddaughters danced at KICKS and she was so proud to put their dance pics in the paper along with other students. I also appreciate the wonderful job she and Derek did on selling my home. Sylvia...you are an icon and will be truly missed by everyone that was fortunate enough to know you. Rest in peace. Loving, warm thoughts to the family. Jo-Ann

Our sincere sympathy goes out to the Houghtons and Norosky families. Sylvia and her boys first became known to us when my dad coached Derek and Dave in soccer. We always looked to her to sell our homes and when my dad died, she was right there for my mom. Her kindness and support of so many will not be forgotton.

We were very saddened to hear of Sylvia's passing. She was an incredible woman...smart, savvy, kind, generous, unique - really one of a kind. A legacy. We were her very first customers on her very first sale, 21 McPhillips in 1981. And she took superb care of us for the next 25 years. She sold our house on McPhillips, found us one on Tilman Circle and then sold it for us when we moved back to Alberta in 2007. She was the consummate professional, but made us feel like family. We feel blessed to have been a part of her life. I want to thank you for all the photos you have posted of her. They capture the many facets of Sylvia - but especially her joy for life and her love for her family. Our sincere condolences to her family for their loss. She will be missed by so many. May she Rest In Peace in God's arms. With much love Drew and Gerilyn Mackay

Dear Bruce and family Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing on of your beloved Sylvia. I will share a memory of Sylvia that our whole family has of Sylvia. As we all know Sylvia was very generous in her sponsoring of kids' sports. When our youngest son was 5 (now 33) Sylvia sponsored his house league hockey team. Sylvia was present at many of the games that her team played. One day she came into. Their dressing room with all kinds of giveaways for the kids, many for free McDonald's or Dairy Queens. The kids were thrilled. One night she showed up at our door and in her hand she had two very expensive hockey sticks for my two sons. She came to give my youngest son a stick because he had scored the most goals on his team but she didn't want my other son to feel left out so she brought him one too. It's these stories we never hear about because Sylvia wasn't;t out there for the glory, she just wanted kids to have fun and she helped them in any way she could. Sylvia was a very generous, caring, and giving soul. We are all very proud to have known her. "To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to Have died at all" Love, John and Theresa Boucher

Bruce, Derek and David . I was so shocked to hear about Sylvia's death. I honestly thought she would go on for ever selling real estate. I am sitting here remembering all the fun times I had with her whether it was at C21 conventions or our trips down south. Not to mention the evening trips in the gold Lincoln boat to the Unionville Arms. She must have had a special angel as we never got picked up by the boys in blue! I do hope that she not have too bad an end. She wouldn't have deserved that. Also hope that you are all holding up okey, especially you Bruce. I will be thinking of you all at this trying time. Love to you all. Penny Hughes

Dear Bruce, Dave and Derek, We are so sorry for your loss. Sylvia was a kind and generous friend whom we first met at the arena when our sons were playing hockey together. What precious memories of that time and then the many New Year's parties. Take comfort in those memories. We are here for you if you need anything. R.I.P. Sylvia.

Sylvia was my sister. She was amazing. Coming from a humble background she went on to become a super success. She was the rock-star in our family. She married her soul mate Bruce & loved him dearly. They would have celebrated 50 years marriage this August. She loved & was proud of her sons David & Derek, her daughter-in-laws Christine & Kerry, and the apples of her eye... her six grandchildren...Megan, Macleod, Alexandria, Adam, Tylor, & Chase. Her family was the most important thing in her life. We always had a good relationship...always finding something to laugh or smile about...even in darkest times. I loved her & will always miss her. She will always be a life's hero to me....RIP dear Sylvia

We are deeply saddened to hear of Sylvia's passing. We first knew her professionally and indeed she was instrumental in the sale of all three of our homes. But we also knew her as a neighbour and friend. She had a real passion for her work, people and community. We fondly remember the Reeve Dr block parties and New Year's Eve's parties as well as the more intimate luncheons she organized. Dave remembers the great fun she had handing out goodies to the kids, and a few adults! on Halloween. She was my "go to" person for advice - from painting to tree services and more. I have received many Christmas decorations from her over our almost 30 yr association- she wanted to make sure we didn't forget her - but how could we! She was certainly a person with a real zest for life and a true love of family. Please accept our deepest sympathies. The Palmer Family - formerly of Reeve Dr.

Our most heartfelt condolences to Bruce, Derek, David and the extended Houghton family. Sylvia's commitment to her family and friends is unmatched- her willingness to support someone in their time of need, invite them to her many parties and festive occasions and her commitment to supporting the charities and organizations in Markham. Her generosity of spirit, her unbelievable drive and commitment to her clients and Sylvia's willingness to blaze a trail for women in the Real Estate community will never be forgotten. We will miss having Sylvia in our corner when she helped find and make a house our home- and we are so much the better for having known her. Rest in Peace
