We will dearly miss our good friend John who brought so much sparkle and class to Markham Little Theatre. His guidance and mentor ship kept us on an even keel and pointed in the right direction until his very last moments. His kindness and generosity of spirit were an inspiration to us all. We will remember him with fondness and respect and he will be forever in our hearts. He was often referred to as the heart of MLT, a thought that was shared by all. We will continue to pay it forward on his behalf and in his memory. Our thoughts are with Joyce and the Storey family at his passing.

The regular annual meeting with John and Joyce at Theatre Ontario Festival was always a highlight of that event for me. What a kind, friendly, warm-hearted gentleman he was! I first met him when he served as President of Theatre Ontario, and we renewed our acquaintance almost every year thereafter. My father, too, spoke warmly and kindly of John from their time together at the Ministry of Education. John's work and dedication to the cause of theatre was exemplary for all who knew him. He will be much missed.

John Storey was one of the first people I met from Markham Little Theatre. The word that best described him to me was "gentleman" - he gave his gifts generously to his theatre and his community. I was blessed to have many warm conversations with him. He will be missed. As a staff member at Theatre Ontario, I have heard many memorable stories about his contributions to our organization as a Board member. This past May, we were proud to be able to honour him with our Michael Spence Award for his contribution to community theatre in Markham, in the GTA, and in Ontario. He has left an incredibly legacy of advocacy for us to follow. I regret that I am unable to attend the memorial service and celebration of life - I am glad to hear the celebration is being held at the MLT Backstage space: a place that would not exist without John.

Hello Joyce, I know that we talked the other day but I just wanted to say again what a special person John was. My partner, Sheila Roy( died October 11 2012) and I both benefitted from his experience as a first-class educator and mentor. I will miss that smile and wit and his dedication to both education and the arts. Take care of yourself in this sad time. We will keep in touch. Sincerely Pat

I first met John when I joined Markham Little Theatre. I was, am, and will always be in awe of his dedication to the group. In the last couple of years alone, he spearheaded roof repairs to Backstage, negotiated the donation of a sign that now hangs on the building, returned to the stage in 84 Charing Cross, and helped to organize (and celebrate in song!) MLT's 50th Anniversary celebration. John was generous with his time, and with his talents. We will miss him. Sarah

Dear Joyce, Rob, Trish and family. How sad. John of course was a pillar and though I knew him through MLT, I had known Rob and Trish for a time, without making a connection. And I see so much of John in Rob. John will certainly be missed by his theatre friends. He was respected and such a huge part of our success. My heart go out to you all... Love, Vicki
