Obituary of Elizabeth Wetmore

ELIZABETH ( BETH) LAW WETMORE Passed away peacefully at Woodhaven Long Term Care Centre in Markham, Ontario on May 15, 2015, in the 93rd year of her long, happy life. Predeceased by her husband Don and brothers David and Bill. Our mother will be deeply missed by her sons Stephen (Lynda), John (Karen), Bill, and Scott (Marjorie). Nana will also be fondly remembered by her 10 grandchildren , Gregory ( Jennifer), Cameron (Sara), Sean (Simone), Katherine , Jamie (Joanna), Alison (Andrew), Sarah, Jennifer( Rudy), Bill, and Tara. She was also known affectionately as Nana G (the great) by her 7 great grandchildren Sebastian, Kayleigh Quinn, Campbell, Layla, Brigham and Eloise. Beth was born on January 10, 1923 in Winnipeg. She grew up as an active, inquiring young lady full of Scottish traditions, stories and a zest for life, which has been passed on to all our family . After graduating with a BA degree from United College ( now University of Winnipeg) she met her husband to be, Don, while he was in RCAF training. On his return from the war, they married and set out to live a hectic but rewarding life , he working for CIBC and she leading the busy family challenges of four active sports minded boys. Always a kind and outgoing person, Beth made great friends in all of their different homes; Clarkson, Willowdale, and Richmond Hill. She was a proud member of the United Church in each location and enjoyed membership in the Richmond Hill Historical Society. Nana G loved the outdoors and all of her grandchildren remember fun times with Nana and Pop at their summer cottage/ farm at Blackwater Lake; swimming, gardening, feeding chipmunks and eating porridge. Beth was indeed an avid, lifelong Toronto Maple Leaf fan, and she loved collecting Canadiana and rug hooking. The family sincerely appreciates the great care by the team at Woodhaven, Dr Pasricha and her personal attendant Varda.
