Obituary of Keith Kindy

After a sudden and brief illness while on vacation, Keith - aka "Gramps"- passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on April 17, 2015. Keith was in his 65th year, and is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 44 years, Janis Kindy (nee Lockhart), his loving daughters Jennifer (Trevor), Traci (Tim), and his brother Don (Barbara). Keith was a devoted grandfather to Ella (his Ella Bella), Rachel (his"Rae" of sunshine), Jacob (his Champ) and Sidney (his Sid the kid).Predeceased by his brother Brian (Nancy).Fondly remembered by his mother and father-¬in¬-law, William and Gladys, sisters-¬in-law Karen Moore (Doug), Chris McKernon (Mark) and his many nieces and nephews. Keith was a highly respected member of the Toronto Police Service and retired as a Detective Sergeant after 33 ½ years of service. He led several different squads during his career and was a loyal mentor and colleague to many. He later worked for the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) for 10 years. In both of his careers, he was known for his dedication, leadership and integrity. When he wasn't working and during retirement, Keith would spend as much time as he could at the family cottage on Clear Lake. It was a place that represented everything that he and Jan had worked so tirelessly to achieve. Always a "Prankster", there were occasions when a well - planned "gag" would provide laughs for weeks and sometimes months on end. Those that were part of the fun will never forget those amazing times with Keith. Most of all, Keith relished each and every moment that he could bring a look of excitement, happiness, and laughter to the faces of his cherished children and grandchildren, his greatest pride and joy.
