Obituary of Peter Edward Cross

We are heartbroken to share that Peter Edward Cross passed away suddenly at home on January 5, 2025 in his 76th year. Adored husband of Jacqui for over 51 years. Devoted father to Sarah (Robert), Andrea (Ashley), and Keith (Rachel). Loving grandad to Madison (Harmon), Avery, and Ellery. And doting dog dad to his beloved cockapoo, Presley. 

Despite a lifetime career at IBM, Peter’s true passion was hosting family and friends and bringing people together. As the self-appointed Head of Food & Beverage, he meticulously planned each gathering, going so far as to ensure each guest had his or her favourite beverage, and poured meaning and thought into every beautiful meal he prepared. He loved golf, Elton John, Christmas, West Ham United Football Club, coaching kids soccer, and any event or activity that brought his family together. He revelled in celebrating memories through creating video montages of years of photos set to personalized playlists. He was a masterful storyteller and an even better listener. Above all else, his greatest love was always for his family, and his kindness, humility, and generosity to others knew no limits. He was simply the best son, husband, dad, “Gdad”, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend and golf buddy anyone could ever hope to have, and we were blessed beyond measure to call him ours.

There will be no visitation or funeral service. A Celebration of Life to which all who loved Peter will be welcome will be held in May, with details to follow.

Every late model requires the occasional tune-up, and Peter was kept fighting fit and on the golf course thanks to extraordinary care he received over the last couple of years from the rheumatology and orthopedic surgery teams at University Health Network (UHN). For those who wish to honour his memory, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Schroeder Arthritis Institute through the UHN Foundation would be gratefully received.
