Obituary of Jessie Diane Follwell

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jessie DIANE Follwell (nee Austin) of Markham Ontario, on November 12th, 2024. Diane had just celebrated her 82nd birthday before her peaceful passing at home. Diane was the beloved wife of the late William (BILL) Edward Follwell, the loving mother of Tim and wife Carla, Sean and wife Kathleen and Stephen. Diane was also the very proud grandmother of Jaidon, Samantha, Marlowe, Natasha, Jacob, Ava and Isabelle. 

Diane was the dear sister of Bill Austin and his wife Margot (of Rosedale), the late Lynda Luff and her husband Ivan (of Coboconk) and Lee Youmans and her late husband Jery (of Denbigh.

After graduating from the University of Toronto, Diane became a lifetime dedicated practitioner and supporter of Physiotherapy. She later earned her MBA part-time, while working full-time and raising her family. In 2009, Diane received a milestone award that cumulated her 50 years of Service and Leadership for the Ontario Physiotherapy Association and continued to volunteer and serve the community for many years after.

Diane will be remembered as a kind, compassionate and loving person who was always happy to see you. She was a special person who was admired and respected by family, colleagues and friends. Diane was well known for being a strong woman trailblazing during times when this was not encouraged. Among many interests, Diane liked to travel and had been to 6 of world's 7 continents as she was always there to say yes to a new experience.

Diane will be deeply missed by friends and family. 

Family and friends will be received at the DIXON-GARLAND FUNERAL HOME, 166 Main Street North, Markham, Ontario, on Wednesday, November 20th, 2024, for visitation from 9:30 a.m., until the time of the memorial service in the Chapel commencing at 11 a.m. A reception will immediately follow at the funeral home where all may share warm memories of Diane. Internment will take place the next day at FENELON FALLS CEMETERY, 84 Concession Rd, Fenelon Falls, Ontario, on Thursday, November 21st, 2024 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada , reflecting Diane’s battle with Dementia.
