Charles was an extraordinary man and touched countless people through his ministry and his teaching. His wisdom and guidance shaped incredible lives for his congregations, his ministry in Uganda, and for the students he taught. He made an impact in the lives of many wherever he went. His care for his students and his intense contribution to mathematics education with Spirit of Math helped to set a whole new standard in the realm of education earning him North York’s 1985 Claude Watson Award, 1992 Waterloo’s Rene Descartes Medal and the 1994 Prime Minister’s Award for teaching. Most of all, he loved his family, and his eyes would light up when he saw his kids and grandkids, right up to his last days. His presence is irreplaceable and he will be deeply missed.
