Obituary of Stuart Alexander Duncan

With great sadness we announce that on August 11, 2024, Stuart Duncan passed away in Markham-Stouffville Hospital at the age of 85. Stu, as he was known to friends and family, died peacefully after a short hospitalization. Stu was born in Arthur, Ontario in 1938 to Alex and Olive Duncan and throughout his life was very close to his brother Jim. He married his beloved wife Anja Duncan (née Laine) in 1972 and they enjoyed many adventures over 52 inseparable and happy years. Stu was a loving and devoted father to son Rob and daughter Liisa, and was also a proud father-in-law to Kevin Chocorlan and Kattrin Duncan (née Sieber). Stu’s grandchildren James Chocorlan, Maija Chocorlan, and Jack Duncan were a constant and neverending source of happiness and pride for him, and they deeply miss their grandpa.

Family and friends are invited to come together at the Dixon Garland Funeral Home at 166 Main St North in Markham on Thursday, August 15th for a visitation beginning at 10am. The funeral service will commence at 11am, after which light refreshments will be served and guests are invited to reminisce and share stories. In lieu of flowers as an expression of sympathy, the family has requested that donations be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada in an effort to help others impacted by the debilitating effects of kidney disease.
