Obituary of Richard Thomas Dalby
Richard Dalby passed away peacefully June 1st, 2024 in his 89th year at Markham Stouffville Hospital.
His best friend and wife “Pat” left him many years ago. Fiercely independent he managed on his own in a 2000 sq foot house, doing all his own cooking & cleaning until the very end. He may have found life lonely except In the subsequent years after Pat passed, he was loved & cared for by his daughter Wendy, son in law Dario and grandson Kylan (step granddaughter Ashley) plus Dario’s extended family Angela, Lorena & Kevin and Alida & Alex. We all kept him busy, sometimes busier than I think he wanted to be! He is survived by the aforementioned, his loving son Mark (Sue) and sister Phyllis.
The family would like to sincerely thank the York Region Paramedics and Fire for their careful handling of Richard in the hours after they were called to his home. Then the fantastic staff in Emergency who quickly understood Richard needed greater care than they could give and got him quickly moved to the ICU. Richard spent nearly a week with Dr. Buchan and his remarkable staff. Richard’s nurses Angelous, Nina, Mel, Nicey, Heidi and especially Savanna who was with Richard at the end are the greatest nurses we’ve ever met. We feel fortunate that Richard was able to do things “his way,” with the Doctor & staff he wanted by his side. Words are not enough……
Friends will be received at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street N. (Markham Road) Markham on Sunday June 9, 2024 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm for a Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
