Obituary of Jacquelyn Anne Pugh

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Jacqui Anne (Hyland) Pugh on May 25, 2024 in Markham, Ontario. Jacqui was born on March 30, 1945 in Toronto, Ontario. She is remembered by her husband of 47 years, Ron Pugh, her sons, Chris Pugh (Nicole) and Jamie Armitage (Jennifer), and step-daughters Casey Thomson (Brendan) and Shannon MacDonald. She will be missed by her grandchildren Gavin, Blake, Bransen, McKenzie, Kennedy, Chantler, and Willow, her brothers Mike Hyland (Cecilia) and Doug Hyland (Liz), her extended family and many friends.

Jacqui was a passionate member of Canada's figure skating community. Born into the 'family business', she shared a love of the sport with her parents, Margaret and Bruce Hyland, as a skater and coach. Skating took her across Canada and around the world. She will be remembered by many of the young skaters she mentored, her skating friends, and colleagues.

Jacqui had a special way of creating memories and gathering friends - at cottages on Lake Simcoe and Big Bald Lake, on ski vacations, in Florida where she and Ron lived for several years, in Cuba which she called her 'happy place', and across the Stouffville and Ballantrae communities. She brought her unique style and attention to detail to everything she did.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jacqui's life at Dixon Garland Funeral Home. The family will host a visitation on Sunday, June 2nd, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and funeral service on Monday, June 3rd at 11:00 am, followed by a reception.

Warm thanks and appreciation to the physicians and nurses at Markham Stouffville Hospital who cared for Jacqui during her short illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jacqui's memory to The Canadian Cancer Society.
