Obituary of Carol Ann Wade

Forever Loved, Never Forgotten ...

Carol Ann Wade
October 2, 1951 - March 7, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Carol Ann (Annie) who passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness which she fought with all her strength. Carol Ann was born in Montreal and is predeceased by her parents Don and Marjorie Wade. Family always came first to Carol Ann. She was a loving sister to Brian (Janis), Don (Laurel), Darlene (Andrew) Fairlie, and an adoring aunt to her nieces and nephews Lauren (Steve), Brendan (Alyssa), Trevor, Paige (Sébastien) and her three great nieces Charlotte, Madelyn and Lily.

She loved family events and celebrations and especially being with her nieces and nephews as they grew up. Her love for family included all her cousins and friends. She was interested in their families, kept track of their activities, and knew their important events and dates. She was part of their lives and the family historian. After graduating from McGill University she began her amazing teaching career starting in Montreal, followed by three years in Lahr, Germany and then settled in Toronto where she taught in various schools within the York Catholic District School Board for over 35 years.

She impacted the lives of hundreds of children by challenging them and made learning fun. Her love of teaching extended outside of the classroom whether she was coaching the track and field team or directing the school concert. She was always very proud of “her kids” and enjoyed following their achievements long after they left her classroom. Carol Ann loved to travel and saw much of Europe while teaching in Germany and making life long friends along the way. But her favourite travel destination was Montreal to visit friends and family especially her mother.

Carol Ann loved playing games and was an avid scrabble player both in person and online. She was a great sports fan and followed hockey, baseball, football and basketball and loved watching the Olympics. She enjoyed all types of music and played the guitar with her aunt and cousins in family singalongs. Carol Ann will always be remembered for her sense of humour, intelligence, independence, iconic memory and passion for teaching. She touched the lives of many and will always be loved and never forgotten.
