Hello. My condolences to your whole family regarding the passing of Muriel Leadbetter. When I first came to Markham in 1982 I took a flower arranging course. It was there I met Muriel. She was such a kind sweet lady. She invited me to her home on Sherwood Forest I believe. I remember her to be so kind and welcoming. I enjoyed my visit and she invited me back. Unfortunately time and grandchildren always get in the way. I would have like to have visited her again. You were lucky to have her as your mom. Eternal Memory to you and your loved ones for Muriel.

Surrogate Mother, Sister, Friend. All these fit my relationship with Muriel. On our first visit to Canada, forty years ago, we were introduced to Muriel (Wife of my Second Cousin). She immediately left a lasting impression on us all with her love, generosity and zest for life. She made us ever so welcome, leaving us the keys to her car and letting us stay in her home whilst she was away on holiday.
Nothing was too much trouble for her and she entertained us like royalty – delightfully laid up dining table, tea in china cups and she introduced us to butter tarts too!
It was always a pleasure to arrive at Sherwood Forest Drive and be met with her smile and warm affection.
Muriel was a woman of deep Christian Faith and it gave me great pleasure in accompanying her to Grace Anglican Church for Sunday worship as well as social events that were accompanied by a banquet of superb home-made food.
Few days pass without Muriel and my Canadian Cousins being in my thoughts. I have been privileged to have known Muriel and I pray that, in the words of the Salvation Army, she has been “promoted to glory”
