Obituary of Patricia Diane Macdonald

Macdonald (nee Porter), Patricia Diane

March 17, 1941- March 1, 2023

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by an abundance of love.  Predeceased by her loving husband Joseph (d. 2014). She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and faith for her children Craig, Michael (Genevieve), Jackie (Greg) Bartkiw and Patti (Eric) Mikula, and her adored grandchildren Joseph and Elizabeth Macdonald, Grace and James (d. 1999), Andrew, Rebecca and Emma Bartkiw and Owen Mikula. She will be missed by her siblings Gerry Porter (Jill), Helen Rambo and Bud (Anita) Wilson, siblings-in-law Marjorie Macdonald, Joan Macdonald, Eleanor (Paul) Handrahan and Philip (Roseanne) Macdonald and loved by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Jean and Jim Porter and family members Joyce and David Huntley, Linda Newell-Porter, Eugene Macdonald, Ernestine and Eugene Kinch, and Loretta and Joe Macdonald.

Patricia was born in Aurora and grew up in the Keswick area, met the love of her life Joe in Toronto and settled in Markham in 1964 to raise their family. She was a loving, devoted mom who cared deeply for her family and her community, giving of her time to numerous community endeavours including the skating club and Markham Stouffville Hospital. After raising her children, she went to work for the YCDSB where she impacted the lives of many more children and families. She was a mom to her four children, but through her warm, caring, giving nature, she “mothered” many more people throughout her life.

She was a long-time member of St Patrick’s Parish, and an active member of the CWL and her beloved choir which gave her the opportunity to sing for the Pope and make many dear friendships.

Thank you to the wonderful staff at Union Villa, who cared for her in her final years, with compassion and dignity always.
