Life is a journey of interactions. I first met John working as an apprentice at Principal Heating. He was kind and encouraged me to learn the trade. Our journey found ourselves attending a Union meeting where John conveyed his explanation of inflation in terms of jelly beans in hand over the years. A intimate affair of some 1500 tin knockers. A classic John explanation that some of us in attendance still regale with a smile. A few years later, we met again. My role as management and John as union business agent. John would greet with a smile, ask how things were going and how he could help. About that time he educated me on the correct pronunciation for Haakon. I still pronounce it that way. That was John. John, I hope you have an endless bowl of jelly beans. Please save the liquorice ones for me and I hope we can have a chat when I get there.
