Obituary of Carol E. Attridge
Always Loved, Forever Remembered ...
ATTRIDGE, Carol Eleanor (née Tuck), RN (1937-2023)
Inspired by faith, family and friends, a fulfilled life has ended. On January 10, 2023, Carol joined a reunion of her extended family members who had predeceased her, including her parents Clifford and Muriel Tuck (Mills), her siblings Lindsay Tuck and Lois Lang (Bill), grandparents, aunts and uncles. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend Don and cherished children Ian (Sue), Karen Dinsmore (Kevin), and Ross (Sherry). Grandchildren Kiera, Kate and Kennedy Dinsmore, and Gabrielle, Emma and Marlowe Attridge well remember their “Grandy”, who so loved and was proud of them. Her presence will be missed by her sister-in-law Loveday Tuck, cousins and friends.
A ’northerner’ from Kirkland Lake, Carol received her Registered Nurse training at Toronto Western Hospital, and post grad at Bellevue Hospital (Rusk Institute, NYC, USA). Her career included experiences at various Toronto and York Region hospitals, the Victorian Order of Nurses, the Ontario Association for Children with Learning Disabilities, Participation House, and Evergreen Hospice, and coordination for both the Ontario Association for Mathematics Education and Living and Learning in Retirement. Her community involvement and countless hours as a volunteer are an inspiration and to be admired. We are grateful for the countless ways she enriched the lives of all who knew her; a woman of warmth, wisdom and faith.
A visitation with family will be held at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home (166 Main Street, Markham) on Friday, January 13 from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of life will take place Saturday, January 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. The service will be live-streamed, with details available on the Funeral Home website. A reception will follow. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, Carol’s preferred charities are the Stephen Lewis Foundation or Evergreen Hospice. Her family are grateful to the staff at Union Villa Long-Term Care, Amica Unionville, and Markham Stouffville Hospital for their care and compassion.
