Obituary of Doug Maybee
Never Forgotten, Always Loved ...
Doug MAYBEE
March 11, 1930 - November 29, 2022
It is with great sorrow that we are announcing the peaceful passing of Douglas John Maybee in Markham, Ontario, on November 29, 2022 at the age of 92. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Doug will remember him as an infinitely kind and compassionate person, whose deep faith and love for his wife, Diane, and family was evident to all. Doug was the only son of Pearl and George Maybee and was born and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario. He attended Trinity College at the University of Toronto and went on to become a Chartered Accountant (CA) with Clarkson Gordon. He married his childhood sweetheart, Diane Millman, and they had 3 children – John (Janice), Mary-Ellen, and Chris (Tracy). They moved to Kingston, raised their family there, and were very active congregants of St. Thomas’ Anglican Church. Doug held the position of church treasurer for many decades.
More recently, Doug enjoyed the role of “Grandoug” to his 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. As an early adopter of technology, he was able to keep up with them via e-mail, text messaging, and various forms of social media. We wish to thank the staff at Markham Stouffville Hospital for their kindness and the quality of care that Doug received during his multiple hospitalizations over the past 2 years. We also wish to thank all the staff at the Chartwell Rouge Valley Retirement Residence which he called home since 2017. Their kindness and caring gave him a new lease on life after moving there following the passing of his beloved wife Diane. We will be forever grateful.
Doug’s family will welcome friends and family that wish to celebrate his life to the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home at 166 Main St. N, Markham, Ontario L3P 1Y3, on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Viewing from 11:30 am to noon will be followed by a memorial service. This service will also be live-streamed on the funeral homes website.
