Only just heard the sad news. I have known Ed for many years through the Markham Group of Artists and we shared our love of art. The last time I saw him was when he visited my home but we had to sit in the back yard because of Covid. My sincere condolences to al the family

I am so sorry to hear of Ed's passing. He was a remarkable and kind man, intelligent and compassionate. He provided professional support to our family on a number of times. His skill was both compassionate and highly competent.
Later he joined the Social Justice Ministry at St. Pats where I was coordinator, and once again his dedication and compassion made a huge contribution. My late husband, Tom, was a huge fan of his.

There is a great passing! Ed made such wonderful contributions to all he met. Ed said many a mass for us Mathers and Duggans at Duggans’ cottage up on Lake Simcoe! Ed, Jack Duggan, and my dad John Mathers were a trio of friends from the time they were in elementary school and stayed a close trio for over seventy years! Ed was often at our place for dinner-always with a box of Laura Secord suckers! And always with music! Ed brought us all the latest hits back in the 60s and 70s, playing guitar magnificently and singing Both Sides Now, or If You Could Read My Mind, or The Gypsy River and Froggy Went a Courtin’ (for us kids.). He went to OCAD and painted some beautiful watercolours that were displayed at our house. He was a true Renaissance Man; a priest, a musician, an artist, a scholar. I will miss him and I thank him for the beautiful music and wonderful presence he brought to our family! Theresa Mathers
