Dear Karen,
I was so saddened to learn of your father's passing when I was researching the MG car club. I well remember the years in which he & his mechanics gave great service on my cars. Your father gave me extremely good advice about purchasing used vehicles & using the CAA for troubleshooting. I remember his kindness to my late mother whenever she brought her car in for service.
I will always remember his enthusiasm for the automobile business and his good service for me & many others.

My heartfelt condolences to Gene, Karen, Doug and the rest of the family. It is only today that I have come to learn of John's passing.
I owe John a huge debt of gratitude. I was lucky enough to be hired by John in my first job as an apprentice mechanic during the early days of Wag Wheels. With his guiding hand I learned not only the trade but also many valuable life lessons that have been with me ever since. He was a tough but fair boss, demanded dedication, persistence, a high work ethic and a high standard. I was a cocky young man and he was a patient and understanding man. I have since moved away from the trade but I would like think that John would be proud of my achievements.
I regret that I did not avail my self of an opportunity to express this to him personally but the sentiment is there nonetheless , Thank you John.
Sincerely,
Christian Fuchs

Marsha and I are both so sorry to hear of John's passing. I saw him quite recently with Gene and he was full of the light and humour and friendliness I have always associated with him. The world is a sadder place without him. Our profound condolences to Gene and the family who will find solace, we hope, in the many wonderful memories.

To Dear Gene, Karen and Family, I have only the most brilliant and fondest memories of John. His handsome presence at so many L & Y occasions, and throughout my and my family's lives. Many visits to Wag Wheels over the years when I got to see him in his work environment too. And that LAUGH. IT will ring in my ears today especially and always, coupled with his unforgettable smile. The smile of a kind, caring, lively gentleman who was truly unique and special. All of our family are deeply saddened for your loss, although we know John is off to the races ... somewhere. Most Sincere Blessings sent your way -- Carol Priest, and Family

David and I were deeply saddened by the news of John's death. We had just spoken to him in August and he was the same John with the same smile.
We moved onto Solway in Aug 1986 and John and Gene welcome us with their friendship immediately. John was always a man with many talents. David loved to talk cars with him and experienced John's help in our home projects. John was truly a craftsman. We will miss his smile and his friendly "Hi Guys!"

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Wagner. A wonderful neighbour to the Solway family. I had the opportunity to spend time chatting with him not that long ago. It was great learning about his childhood and move to Canada.

Thoughts and prayers going out to the whole Wagner family at this sad time. This was shocking news as we just saw John twice in the last few months where he was the same happy person he always was, remembering old times and telling stories. At least he was able to live life to the fullest and enjoy it with family and friends. Kelly (MacDonald) & Tom Morris

I send this with a heavy, heavy, heart and offer my heartfelt condolences to Jean, Karen and the entire family. There was never a job too big for John aka Poppy. He was a wealth of knowledge and I never got tired of listening to that English accent :) He was truly a man who lived life to the fullest and did everything with a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eye. May you take comfort in all of your wonderful memories.

The MacDonalds of Brimley Road got to know The Wagner Family through The Lancs and Yorks Social Club. There were many social occasions where we were all together, especially the L&Y dances and the annual New Year’s Party in our recroom or at Chaplin’s. Such fun times and warm memories of days when friends were like family. Our condolences to the entire Wagner family. John was a very special man. He will be missed.

Our family has so many fond memories of John, as our parents were life long friends through the L and Y club. We shared many great times at the cottage, the Wags head pub on Boxing Day, a trip to Spain and John and my Dad coaching hockey together. John was always such a kind man with a big smile. My sympathies to all the Wagner family at this sad time.
