Cathi,
You and your family have our sincerest and deepest condolences on the passing of Jack.
Jack was great friend and travelling partner on many long golf trips down south where we'd talk a lot about family, but with sports, investments and music trivia not far behind. Unfortunately I had to play against Jack on many occasions on the final days of our competitions due to our talent level (or lack of it). He was also a regular part of our golf foursome up here and at our cottage or in the Muskoka's, which left us with so many memories.
Although the game of golf eluded Jack, he more than made up for it in his talents for hockey and baseball. Jack being very unselfish, would on many occasions want to play with, let's say "less gifted" but industrious players which I and another of his good friends would happily agree to. This also went with baseball where you wanted to be on his team where he could hit up a storm and run like the wind.
Cathi, from all the wonderful comments I've read there's not much more I could add, but I too will truly and deeply miss Jack like all that have touched him within the recreational sports community of the Markham area.
And I want to say how understanding and brave Jack was in choosing to go out on his terms.
God Bless you Jack and may you now Rest in Peace
All the Sleepy Hollow Golf Guys will miss you Jack. You were a great guy to spend a sunny afternoon with out on the links. Our flag is at half mast this week in tribute to and fond memory of a fine fellow.
From all his friends in MORSL where Jack played until 2016. He was a very competitive player who always had the knack to get others to play better, when he was there. Able to hit the ball where he wanted and played many a year at shortstop.... hey even pitched for a while. Jack you will be missed... RIP You made the world a little bit better!!
