It’s been hard to put words together since learning of Mark’s passing. He came into our lives with the biggest heart and certainly kept us on our toes. It wasn’t always easy to keep up with him, but I am grateful for the lessons I’ve learned from knowing him. He even turned our cat-loving family into dog lovers, despite our best efforts! lol
Mark would drop everything to lend a hand to anyone and would always go above and beyond no matter the task. When I think of Mark I think of his intelligence, engaging conversation and his genuine interest in everyone’s lives. He was everyone’s biggest cheerleader and didn’t have a judgemental bone in his body.
We hadn’t been in touch recently and it breaks my heart to think of the “should haves”. I should have reached out even just to say “hi” while I still had the chance. I know life is short and this loss is another reminder to say what needs to be said and do what makes you happy every day.
The service today was so beautiful and a true representation of Mark’s life. I could picture him being there with everyone and saying something like, “Hey, did you see the size of those sandwiches?!” :P
Hayden, Hilary and Evan.. my heart is with you all. Your dad beamed when he spoke of each of you. Absolutely beamed. Think of the good memories and please know how much he loved each of you. I’m always here to chat if you ever want to reach out.
Mark, may you finally Rest In Peace. I know there’s a few great ones up there ready for a long awaited round of golf on the fairways in Heaven. <3

I was saddened to hear of Mark’s passing. He was a decent person who always made people feel at ease. Great memories growing up with Mark in the Conservation area. Whether at Roy H Crosby, Franklin Street PS or Markham District High School, Mark was a positive influence and admired as an athlete particularly as a basketball player. My deepest condolences to Mark’s family and friends. R.I.P. Mark.

Hayden , Hilary , Evan & Burt family , we are so very sorry for your loss . We have many fond memories of our family trips to visit in Moncton, trips to Crystal Palace, the Zoo , and when we went to PEI and when you came to visit at Nan’s/Granny B’s cottage, and we would go to Unionville, those were all fun times . We are sorry we will not be able to be at the service Saturday in person but will attend the live stream . Hugs to you all.
Mark , may you be at peace now from illness , your life’s journey has sadly taken you too soon .

Sending heartfelt condolences to Mark's children, family and especially to Heather, Hilary and Hayden. My best memories of Mark are of when we were in grade school at Roy H. Crosby and living on Walkerton Dr. We had so much fun playing games like tag and hide and seek with all the rest of the kids that lived on that street, making forts in the adjacent forest and playing baseball games in Milne conservation area. Of never wanting to go home but to continue playing as late as possible and pretending to not hear your parents calling you in for dinner or bed. Rest in peace Mark.

Deepest condolences to Mark's children and family. Mark was my childhood friend, and my grade 8 crush. Though we lost touch I still fondly remember Mark. He was kind, friendly, fun and one of the loveliest people I ever knew.

I am so sadened to hear of Mark's passing and wanted to send my sincere condolene to Mark's parents, Rosemarie and Allan, his children Hayden, Hilary and Evan and to his brother Sean.
I met Mark last year while he was working for Algonquin Highlands Maintenance department and he always found the time to stop and speak with me; I will certainly miss our chats and exchanging our thoughts about living in God's country. Mark always shared his adventures about fishing, hunting, golf and especially his childen. Mark was the epitomy of what being a gentleman is all about and I am sure he will be missed by anyone he chance to meet.
To the Burt family please take some solace in knowing that Mark is in a far better place now and is without pain or suffering.
God Bless you all.

So sorry to lose my cousin Mark. We didn't see each other often but when we did it was like no time had passed. The best memories I have are at the cottage with our grandparents who were the best grandparents you could ask for. Taking rides in the boat, swimming and it was all the more fun when Mark and Sean were there. I also remember a Christmas dinner in Markham when we were little. Mark and Sean got a Chipmunks album and record player which was so exciting, played it over and over again. I wish we had spend more time together recently, Rest In Peace.

Very sad to be reading this tonight...best breaker of the full-court-press I ever saw and one helluvan assist man. After high school Mark and I used to get up early and run to Centennial Pool, swim for a bit...then run home...this got me started in triathlon soooo many years ago. I hadn't seen Mark much since those days, but the few times we ran into each other were reflective of being teammates for life.
RIP Mark and condolences to his family...

Mark you were very, very special, my first point guard on a very special team. I loved you man, the heart of our championships!
My first memory is you arguing with me that wearing black socks in your basketball shoes was a good look. Not cool, like black socks and sandals. Mark you great under pressure, superb athlete who could putt. Your friends and I will miss you terribly. My condolences to your kids and family!
