To the Barkey Family, please accept our condolences in the passing of Elva, we were neighbours for a short while ( 1997-2006 ) We lived at 83 Peter St and will fondly remember both of your parents always ready with a wave and a smile, our young son loved to see Don and Elva in the classic car as they drove passed our house and waved to him. Our quiet street was a wonderful place to raise a family and all the better with neighbours like the Barkey Family.

Sherrie, Scott, Shelley and family,
Remembering your mother, Elva, tonight with such fond memories of our times together in Markham
and at Stayner Campgrounds!! Oh, the stories we would share, usuallly leading to laughter and tears!
Winston and I loved your mom, her gentle spirit, love for God, great sense of humor, and her love for
Don, and each of you, her children and grandchildren.
Though I sent you a private note, I also wanted to share a public tribute to honor her life and what
she meant to us and so many... to everyone who came in touch with her, Elva was a shining light of
love and Godly wisdom.
She will be in our hearts and memories as we look forward to our meeting once again with her and
Don in the presence of our Lord Jesus, who she dearly loves, as we worship Him and share our stories
around His Throne of Glory forever!!!
Though you also have the hope of seeing them again, we know you will be missing your mom, Elva,
and your dad, Don, so we are praying for your comfort and strength to face those lonely days ahead
until all are reunited in our Heavenly Home!!
With our love, Pastor Thurton (as you know him) and Lois xoxo

Being new to Canada 30+ years ago, I was cultured shock and trying to fit in. Then Don and Elva gave their friendship and parental guidance helping me grow. Welcomed me wholeheartedly like part of the family. I’m forever proud to refer to them as my Canadian parents.
To my brothers Scott, Gene, Randy and sisters Sherri, Shelly and Tracey: I share your sorrows. But only love and gratitude fills my heart every time I think of Don and Elva.
Our love and prayers are with you and all their beloved grandkids.

First my sincere condolences to all the family. My earliest memory of Elva and the Kennedy family goes back to Sunday School days at Unionville Christian Missionary and Alliance Church in the 50's and 60's. Her brother David was my age.
Unaware that Elva and Don had a passion for classic vehicles, by chance a few short years ago I met them and grandson Taylor at the Main Street Show and at subsequent events. I was truly amazed how knowledgeable Taylor was about our 55 Bel Air.
Rest in peace Elva and Don, and happy Heavenly cruzin'. - Glenn Baron

Sherrie, Scott & Shelley and families
I have many fond memories of your mom (& dad) including their moving into 80 Peter St. after their honeymoon. We (the James family) lived across the street. I remember your mom as energetic, take-charge and always smiling. I'm sure that you have many beautiful memories of your own. I pray they will bring you comfort over the coming days, weeks and months. She is at home with her Saviour and her beloved husband.

Sherrie, Scott, Shelley and your families, you are all in our prayers. We will treasure the memories we have of Elva and Don. Our best memory is of Don getting the convertible ready every weekend to take Elva for a drive. I don’t think I ever saw Elva without a smile. Her beautiful soul shone through her eyes and smile. We were blessed to have her and Don as neighbours for so many years. She is at home now with Don in Heaven. God bless. Sue and Ron Keeble

It was always a pleasure to visit with Don and Elva at Stayner camp. My husband and Don were buddies when they were young. They played on the same ball team in the Markham area.
My thoughts and prayers are with
your family in the next days, weeks and months.
May God give you peace and comfort knowing that you will be reunited with your parents someday.
Love and prayers. Joyce Gilchrist
