A difficulty understanding each other due to language barriers, did not prevent a long lasting friendship to develop in the northern Ontario town of Matheson. While they lost contact when Mom went to Toronto in 1952, they met again following a chance conversation with their daughter, who was a hairstylist at Mom's hairdresser i8n Markham. Following correspondence and phone conversations, they finally did meet again. (Their daughter and Elizabeth often played together.)
