Joan was a longtime colleague and friend to us at Markham Public Library. She was a huge part of our organization for so many years. Joan touched the lives of many, both within MPL and beyond. We will remember Joan for her vibrant personality, her colourful stories, her humour and most of all, her kind heart. Joan was greatly admired by her friends and colleagues. She lived life to the fullest; she had a tremendous sense of adventure and such a great outlook on life. Our heartfelt condolences. She will be missed. Our thoughts are with Joan's family at this time of great loss.

Kind, helpful, understanding and always impeccably dressed. Joan will be remembered for this and much more. I am so grateful for 40 years of friendship with Joan, that started at the Markham Library over countless, always over-extended coffee breaks. So many experiences shared, so many memories, so much learnt from Joan.
Will miss you!
My thoughts are with Richard, Shawn and the grandkids at this time.

I am sorry to learn of dear Joan’s passing. I also had the pleasure to work with her for the last several years of her long career at Markham Public Library. She had a powerful wit and discerning opinions of books. She loved hosting the monthly book club meetings with patrons who became her friends. Joan was elegant, always professional but engaging with her contagious laugh! It was fun working with Joan. Please accept my deep condolences. Joan loved you all!

Joan was Swan Lake dear, friend and neighbour. We had many walks around Swan Lake and the streets in the Village. Joan and some of the other ladies would get together for drinks, Tipsy Tuesday, Festive Friday. Joan had a great sense of humour. I would occasionally drop in with my sparking water, Joan quizzed and asked me why I wasn’t drinking wine. I told her that came from a non drinking home. She said, “You're old enough now, start drinking.” We also had what Joan called, “This food thing going.” We would leave containers of leftovers at each door. I loved her fried peppers and she loved my lentil soup, and more.
We had a lovely lunch on a patio in Stouffville in the fall, took a long drive, went to a farm market and had a great day. We had many dinners, coffees and take our meals together on my deck, dining room and in her condo.
I miss my dear friend.
May she Rest In Peace in God’s Kingdom of Heaven
