Greetings to all the Gronsdahl family. It is only belatedly that we learned of Madeleine’s passing. We lived next door to Madeleine and Hansel on Cedar Hill Road in Victoria for several years and through our mutual love for cats and dogs, we became more than just neighbours.
We shared wonderful home cooked dinners together (Madeleine always kept a bottle of bourbon just for me!); we looked after each other’s pets when called upon; we swapped many life stories (Madeleine’s always circled around to Ken), and throughout those years felt very fortunate and blessed to have such a positive, engaging person next door.
Madeleine always remembered our anniversary and our daughter’s birthday and unfailingly sent us a card both on those occasions and at Xmas.
I visited Madeleine in Markham on a trip to Toronto and we managed to get quite tipsy together! A real down to earth prairie gal on those occasions! We subsequently lost touch, but we have never forgotten her and her many kindnesses.
