I don't know if anybody will see this, but Ms. Jurmain really changed my life. I had a pretty rough go in middle school, and with where my mental health was going, finding a different high school was probably my last chance at life. About a week before applications were due, the teacher who was supposed to write mine sent me to her instead (so that she would write it and he could just sign it). She rolled her eyes and told me she would deal with it, and the next day gave me a letter written and signed by her. If she hadn't helped me, I probably would have given up on applying and I don't know where that would have left me. I've found myself wishing that I had more distinct memories in her class or knew about which music or books she liked so I could revisit it all and remember her, but really when I look at my life now I wonder what I might not owe to her. I feel very lucky to look at my life as something she gave me, and something I will always be able to look at to remember her.
