We were sorry to hear the news of Don's passing. Condolences to Elva, Scott, Gene and families.
While on my "Grand Dogs" walks around the block, we'd always run into Charlie and meet Don, Scott and Gene sitting out at the patio table at the end of his Peter Street driveway enjoying the sunshine and their morning coffee. Best moment, seeing Don beaming beside his "Classic" car at the last Main Street Markham Auto Classic.
Always friendly and professional.

Don and I met many years ago through the photocopier industry. I had the pleasure of doing business with Don and his son Scott on many occasion. Through all of my business dealings and interactions with Don, I always found him to be fair and honest.
Don was a man of integrity, a true gentleman with a good sense of humor.
I am very saddened to hear of Don's passing and send my deepest condolences to the Barkey family.
Sincerely,
David Breen and the Bre-Mar Office Equipment Inc. Team

What a privilege to share in the beautiful celebration of life service for Don! How fortunate we are to have live streaming available to us in these times when gathering together is so prohibited! It has been a joy to be friends of Don and Elva for many, many years. It was always good to renew our friendship at Stayner as miles separated us over the years. I appreciated the heart felt, honest messages from the family as I shed tears for your family as you are experiencing the loss of Don. What a hope we have as Christ’s followers! We will be reunited with our loved ones in heaven someday. May God grant you peace and comfort in the days ahead.

Elva, Sherrie,Scott, Shelley and whole family, Winston and I just finished watching livestream the beautiful celebration of life for your loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather! Our hearts were full of precious memories and we were echoing "amen" to everything that was shared by each of you!! Though there are tears today we do have the joy in our hearts of knowing he is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!! It is so wonderful to be able to still keep in touch and we deeply thank you for live-streaming Don's celebration of life so that we could share with you in honoring him so very well and in the expressions of your deep love for him. Sending each of you, our love and praying for your continued comfort and strength. Until we meet again!! Revelation 19:5-10.

Don and his wife Elva were first to welcome us and offer their friendship when we arrived in Markham in 1980. Many fond memories of friendship shared since that time flood my mind as I reflect on Don's life - a life of many experiences, of significant testing, of joy, of laughter and of faith through it all. Thank you Don my friend. May God be with your family during this trying time. Until we meet again, Paul Wiens

We enjoyed many cups of coffee and some interesting humour with Don sitting out front. He was a very good neighbour and friend. I was most impressed by his simple faith and found him often sitting and reading his bible. He inspired me, and I’m sure others, to be a better person, to wear a smile and to act with kindness. May he rest in the arms of the angels. Sue and Ron Keeble
