Obituary of Brian Joseph Mahoney

Brian Joseph Mahoney

August 2nd, 1944  -  April 16th, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dearly loved Brian on April 16th, at home surrounded by his family. Beloved husband to Norma for 41 years, proud and devoted father to Laura (Patrick), Jeff (Melissa) and fun-loving grandfather, “G-Pops”, to Logan. Born in Watford, England, to parents Pamela and Joseph, Brian spent his early years growing up in Windsor, Ontario, before moving to Toronto and later settling in Unionville with his family. Brian will always be remembered for his endless optimism, strength, courage, empathy and his famous ‘dad jokes’. His greatest joy was spending time with his entire family, including being ‘Uncle B’ to his wonderful nieces and nephew.

With a personable, dedicated and talented ability to connect with others within the business community, Brian was an extremely well respected colleague, and a true mentor in his 47 successful years working for IBM. Brian’s pivotal community involvement spoke to his caring and supportive character, including being the Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Prostate Cancer Network at Markham Stouffville Hospital for over 20 years. From his treasured memories at The North Toronto Ski Club, Red Pine Camp and The Cottage, Brian had a passion for connecting with his close friends, sharing a laugh, some music and a ‘wee dram’. A very special thank you to our dear friends and family for the ongoing love and support. Also, a special thank you to the community home services, as well as the doctors and nursing staff at MSH Cancer Clinic.

Due to current circumstances, a celebration of Brian’s incredible life will be held at a later date. At this time, condolences and stories are encouraged on the Dixon-Garland ‘Tribute Wall’. In leu of flowers, please consider a donation in Brian’s name to a cause directly related to his charitable efforts through the Markham Stouffville Prostate Cancer Network (link below)

We are blessed to have shared this life with you. Forever in our hearts, we will miss you so much.
