We are so sorry to have lost you Anne to that dreaded disease, Alzheimer's. You were a very strong person and true to form you fought a valiant fight right to the end. We all admired your independent free spirit and the love you always showed to your family and grandchildren. We will miss all those great times around the dinner table and all the food you prepared that kept coming out of the kitchen. I know my favourites were the "wheel" (veal) cutlets and the peach pies.
Thank you for raising such a beautiful daughter who became my wife, Janet, and for the very positive influence you had on our children Madeline and Kevin. I admired your protective instincts and you can rest in peace knowing that I will take care of Janet for ever.
Love,
Bryan

Dearest mum
I have so many wonderful memories of my childhood with you, after getting married and with your grandchildren, Madeline and Kevin. Niagara Falls also has many fond memories of times we visited and stayed for the weekend to do walks pick fruit and of course have delicious dinners with you.
My most current memories though are of visiting you in the hospital and then Markhaven as your dementia progressed. I knew it was not a good time in your life and that is why your passing is good in that you are no longer dealing with a mind that did not allow you to enjoy life as you had always done previously. Although it was a dark time I felt as though it was a time we really connected Every visit I would see your face light up when you saw me and a gentle smile usually covered your face. We would walk together in the garden, or sing to songs during the entertainment or sometimes just sit while I held your hand or rubbed your back. Some days we would share some french fries or potato chips and you would go umm. Always you would talk to me about things I was unable to decipher but still felt like we both understood each other. I hope that I was able to take care of you in some small way during this time as you took care of me always
Although the mother that I knew and loved for a lifetime was no longer with us I was still able to hold your hand and make a difference and that I will miss.

Our Thoughts Are With You at This Time
Our Thoughts Are With You at This Time
Nicki, Janet, Bill and families,
We always had allot of fun growing up with the Matzelle family. Your mom was always patient with us as we used to terrorize your house! She was always inspiring as she had a zest for doing different things in her life. She will be truly missed.

Grandma Anne was always there with cinnamon buns or schnitzel. I remember her green thumb and her pride of being a landlord. She has seen the ravages of war and the beauty of three successful “kids”. Now her spirit is free to continue her great adventure, with her trusty Zak at her side. She will be missed.

Whenever we would visit grandma as children, she always had cinnamon rolls ready for when we arrived.
