Obituary of Peter Cockle Coxe

April 24^th 1932 - March 21^st, 2020

With great sadness we announce that Peter passed away peacefully on March 21^st, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy decline in health and mobility. Beloved husband of Helen for 57 years. Peter’s greatest love was his family and was a proud and caring father to Lisa and Julie (Madonna House Apostolate) and Susan (Paul). He loved his grandchildren unconditionally, Aishlyn, Elijah, and Kyla and cherished their presence in his life.

Predeceased by his parents Alwyn and Avril, brother Wilbert and sisters Emily and Jennifer. He is fondly remembered by his niece Lynette (Bob) of England, and the extensive family of his wife, Helen. Peter was born in Bangkok and educated in India, Australia, and finally England, where he graduated as an electrical engineer. He worked at CN Telecommunications until his retirement. He loved being with a group of close friends enjoying good wine and interesting conversation. Peter was an accomplished bridge player and it was one of the few places where his competitive spirit came out in full force. Towards the end of his life his heart yearned for the land of Paradise. A devout Catholic and generous person, he had great concern for those in need. The family would like to thank the staff at Markham-Stouffville Hospital for their care and kindness at this difficult time.

If desired, donations may be made to Madonna House or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Due to COVID-19, the family will have a small private service. Cremation arrangements are with Dixon-Garland Funeral Home. Interment of ashes will take place later in Pembroke, Ontario. We hope to have a celebration of Peter's life with a memorial Mass in Markham at a future date.
