Bette and Sandy - Hugs to you Both. Sincere Condolences on your Dad's passing. He will always be with you in your hearts and minds.
Your Family has given me so many wonderful memories - growing up my first 10 years on Main Street Markham Village. as your next door neighbours. The Beare Family - Russ, Norma, Bette, Donna and Sandy. The Snowballs - Art, Betty, June, April.
It was a privilege. Thank you.
Great times that will live on forever - Your Dad took me to his Lion's Christmas parties - our family went to your cottage where your Mom made pancakes on the wood stove in the kitchen, once she went on a watermelon diet - at age 7 I thought that an awesome idea and wanted to as well. Bette you asked my Mom - Betty to use me as your Guinea pig for a teaching project - I was so scared - at that young age I did not understand the term - and thought I was to be changes into a real animal.
You were all there when my dog Frosty got hit by a car and died on Main Street trying to follow my Dad to Graham's store -
Thank you. My Mom and Dad - Art & Betty - always told us that if we ever needed help - to go next door - Russ, Norma and girls would be there to help. You were.
Our Memories are Forever.

Russell Beare was my fathers hero. My father Norman Deffett, worked for Mr. Beare when he was 12 years old back in 1940 in the apple orchards. He adored Russell and still speaks of him almost daily. He said he treated him like a son and was a remarkable human being. We tried to contact Mr. Beare in February of this year to wish him a happy 103rd birthday but could not reach him. When I told my father of the sad news of his passing he cried. My father is 92 now, he left such a lasting impression upon him.
Please accept our deepest condolences at this time.

Dear Bette and Sandy, my sincere condolences to you and your families. Over the last year and l/2, while Russ was still in his home, I had the pleasure of spending 6 hours with this special man every Monday afternoon as one of his caregivers. We had wonderful times discussing everything from politics (and his very strong views!!!!) to sharing some family pictures. Watching the political show "Question Period" while he was having his afternoon Happy Hour drink and munchies was a routine for us. Russ had such a wonderful and colourful life and his family took such good care of him. I cannot express how much I enjoyed my visits with him and I know I will see him again. Thinking of all of you. Love Marguerite xx

So sorry to learn of my Uncle Rus' passing. He managed his objective of outliving my mother, his eldest sister, by over a year.
I have so many great memories of Uncle Rus. Especially into my early teens. When I was about 10 years Dad flagged down the train at Godolphin Road (between Hastings & Campbellford), bought a ticket from the conductor and sent me alone to be with Grandma Beare. Uncle Rus met me at the Markham Station and took me out to Armadale. Uncle Rus & Aunt Norma lived in the back half and Grandma Beare in the front of the big brick house where Mom was raised. I candled eggs and picked apples and fed hogs and cleaned pens. At least that's my memory. In reality I was probably more bother than help but I got to spend a lot of time with Uncle Rus every day.
Fern & I visited them after they moved to Markham and I popped into his office whenever I was in the Markham area on business. But as always there are regrets that I did not see him much in recent years.

Dear family.
Russ and his family lives across the road at Armadale. My dad, Gordon Ingleton and Russ were good friends and they worked, hunted and fished together. Dad helped Russ put the road into the cottage lot on Kashabog Lake. As a young boy, I helped Russ as his " little helper " to build the cottage. Russ taught me how to fish, run a boat and sell apples on his farm. I always had a high regard for Russ as he was always good to me and my family. Being so close at Armadale, my sisters and I played with Bette, Donna and Sandy. Our family moved to Elmvale in 1950 but we still went to the Beare cottage each summer and Dad went with Russ to hunt for deer around the lake.
Dad said that Russ was a " musky Hunter " and once at Kashabog I asked him to take me out after these fish. He took me out on the lake and put on a big Creek Chub lure. We hooked one these ferocious fish and one could see why Russ liked to catch them.
I always loved Russ and remember him fondly. May he rest in peace. With fondness, Ralph Ingleton

What a great guy Russ was, so sorry to see him go. He was a good friend of my parents Lylia and Gordon Jones, and always had a tale to tell. His autobiography was a great comfort to my mom in her later years, she never tired of hearing his stories. I will also always remember the multitudes of tomato seedlings he started every spring to give away to his fellow gardeners.

Sandra & Bette too,
Although I only met your father on two occasions when he was in his late 90's, I will never forget them. He displayed a dignity and friendship that was truly admirable.
My first visit was with my colleague, whom had taken over some of the families Russell had managed money for. I have had the same privilege to continue on with some of these families. I still adhere to the Russell Beare money management approach and yes it still works!
My second visit was a Thursday afternoon. Although communication was a little difficult, we both smiled and enjoyed the time together. He showed me around the house and shared some of his various collections of unique items!
A wonderful fellow.

Bette and Sandra, I am so sorry for your loss. 103 - what a wonderful life he enjoyed.
My memories of Kashabog lake - great fish and good times. During Hurricane Hazel, we lived across the road and your Dad helped my mom and I because my Dad couldn’t make his way out of the city.

To the Beare family,
I am so sorry to read of you Dad's passing, you have my deepest sympathies. I remember my Dad Burton Daniels talking about your Dad and that they sat and watched the barn at the corner of Steele's and 48, being built they were just little boys.
I have enjoyed reading the books that your Dad wrote and finding family members that I didn't know we were related too
I remember skating on the area north of your home in Mount Joy and spending my happy hours skating there.
You have my deepest sympathies
