Your father and I went to Toronto Teacher's College together, way back in 71/72. We then began our teaching careers together at John XXIII. I have many fond memories of your Dad, and our early days of teaching. May his soul rest in peace. I will be away on the day of his service, but feel free to e-mail me. Good memories Bill.

Mr. Rutledge was a gift to his students, I for one can attest to that. He believed in me when no one else did. He made a difference in my life. I am so thankful I had the opportunity to tell him so. The world was a better place because of him. My heartfelt condolences to the Rutledge family. ❤️

Mr. Rutledge was my Grade 8 teacher at St. Florence School. He is my most favorite teacher and holds a VERY special spot in my heart.
As a student, I spend countless hours talking with him that school year. Mr. Rutledge always made me feel special and sang a special song to me every day. Every time I hear that song, I think of him.
One day... in the middle of a math class, Mr. Rutledge noticed that it was snowing. He told us that it was important to live life to the fullest! He instructed us to put our pencils down and to go outside to build a snowman. Every first snow fall, I think of him.
Mr. Rutledge always encouraged me to never give up and to believe in myself in becoming a teacher one day. Every September when I teach my first class with my new students, I talk about my favorite teacher and the impact that Mr. Rutledge made on my life. Every time I teach, I think of him!

We only knew Bill for a few years but we became very good friends. My husband played golf with Bill up until last summer and his wit and humor will always be remembered. We enjoyed Bill on our Tuesday night outing at the Masions and always had many stories to tell which made us all laugh. He will be missed greatly. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
