John, one of my closest friends in Saskatoon. I’m going to miss you so much my friend. I always loved seeing you at the same stories as me, and I’ll always remember your laugh and your caring words when times were tough.
John and I grew up just miles apart in Markham, Ont., but I only first met John when I moved to Saskatoon in 2012. Responding to a crash scene John greeted me as I pulled up and told me he knew my brother Henri while growing up in Markham. What a small world, and I’m so blessed to have met him and become close friends.
My heart breaks to learn of his passing. I keep in touch with John throughout his battle with cancer, and I last spoke to him around Christmas, wishing him a speedy recovery so he could come back to Saskatoon and we could hang out again.
As two devoted Leafs fans I loved watching hockey with John, I loved being around him, he’s such a funny guy. We shared countless memories together in the short time we were friends, but he was always considered one of my closest. We watched all the new Star Wars movies together, shared some pints and just had an overall great time together.
I’m going to miss you so much John, you were an honest, caring and loving friend and it’s hard to find people with your character in this world. I love you John, and my heart hurts to know you’re gone. My deepest prayers are with Shu and your lovely daughter Amanda.

Dear Baglieri Family,
My deepest sympathies to your family.
I was honoured to work with John at CTV. In fact, I was the News Director who hired him in Prince Albert. John was literally the perfect employee...always willing to do extra and excited about each assignment no matter what the topic. I fondly remember his coverage on the aftermath of a windstorm in which he shot his own stand up while standing in the window of a blown over grain bin....his signature hair flowing in the wind. He had another stand up I fondly remember....although it was a little less flattering...haha! He was on the floor of a gym signing off his sports story while a wrestler had him in a headlock! He certainly knew how to make us smile. John gained so much respect as a journalist in Saskatchewan as his work progressed in Saskatoon. I was so happy for him when he casually told me about a date he had with a girl named Shu. I am glad he and Shu were blessed when Amanda was born.
I am glad to have called John a colleague and a friend.
Please accept my thoughts of comfort and condolences to your family.
Sincerely,
Teena Monteleone
