What a strong, wise, kind and special matriarch. Mrs. Scott, I will always have some of my favourite childhood memories of shooting stars on your beach, pumpkins growing in your garden we shared, "ski watering", and of course our shared birthday. We will miss you but will celebrate your life with our fond memories. You led a wonderful and diverse family. It's so sad and so hard to say goodbye to you, our thoughts are with them as they work through their grief. Katrina,Jeff, Kai & Jude

Our sympathy to Nancy's family! We spent many happy days with her - beginning in Whitney Hall and then from time to time at reunions in Toronto ( and once in Ottawa) and then in retirement years the Buchanans and the Campbells with the Scotts met for summer reunions in Niagara-on-the-Lake.Although we haven't physically been together for many years we have always been - and will always be together in our memories! Lois (Ward) Buchanan, Jean Deyo and Helen (Ferguson) Campbell

Provided by Stuart and Elsie Watson of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (August 21st, 2013) to Elizabeth: Elsie and I have many great memories of our friendship with your Mom, which goes back 43 years when we joined the church. At the time of her passing, I believe she was the oldest standing member of the congregation!
Some years later when the time came to build a new Sanctuary, your parents jumped on board and I recall a wonderful "pep rally" dinner they held at their home. That provided the momentum to successfully complete the project in 1987.
Your Mom continued her love of music beyond her very active days in the choir and took a keen interest in these activities over the ensuing years. When the Heritage Committee took on sponsorship of the Music@St.Andrew's program, Nancy was one of the first to make a donation and continued her support.
We were brought together in a closer and somewhat surprising way back in the 90's, when I found out that Nancy's dad, Rev. Dr. Alfred Barr was minister at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in my hometown of St. John's, Nfld. during the war years. On a visit to my old church I noticed a picture in the Narthex of Dr. Barr with the Board of Managers, with my Dad as chairman. I obtained a copy for your Mom and we had a great chat about her memories of those two to three years at the "Kirk".
I recall when those wonderful (her word, not mine!) ads came on television for Newfoundland, your Mom was so excited to tell me she saw the Kirk spire in one of the ads. There was nothing wrong with her memory!
Your parents spent a week at our Newfoundland cottage and a little while later your Mom presented us with two lovely watercolours she had done of the adjacent coastline, a touching act of kindness we will always cherish.
Our association strengthened with your Mom's stay in Swan Lake and later into Amica. I always said that her living areas looked like an art gallery! Of course, we are all reminded of her artistic talents when we look at the front of the church bulletin. (Nancy painted a watercolour of St. Andrews which adorns the cover of the weekly bulletin)
Perhaps my best memories are those great conversations we had when I visited your Mom and she would give her candid and insightful opinions on a variety of issues - even the church!
Her love of life and family was keen right up to my last visit before heading east. She spoke so fondly of all her family and their exciting news and in particular the very dedicated love and support she received from you, Elizabeth, as she dealt with her on-going health issues.
Your Mom, our Nancy, was truly a special person and we feel honoured to have been called her friend! We will miss her! Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and especially on Saturday.
Most Sincerely,
Stuart & Elsie

John and I were saddened to learn of Aunt Nancy's passing. She and my mother attended Bishop Spencer in St. John's, Nfld together for 3 years. My mom married Nancy's brother. I was Aunt Nancy's flower girl, an important job for a very young girl. Our family has many memories of holidays spent on Georgian Bay. Our sincere condolences to my cousins. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
