It seems surreal that you have come to the end of your journey and you are gone. It seems 'forever ago' that I was watching little Jason after school so you could rest--I wish I could have done more.
You fought your disease for fourteen years with insurmountable strength and courage while never allowing it to control or define you. I had never known anyone before you that was living with cancer, and you taught me so much about cancer and treatment options, but most of all, you taught me the importance of never giving up hope. In spite of everything you went through, you never lost your love for life, or your sense of humour.
I will miss your cherry smile, and cherish our many conversations we had on such varied topics as the value of education, rock concerts and the development of foreign languages.
Rest in peace, Susanne,
Your friend and neighbour,
Jane

Dear Satya and family, I am with you all in love and sympathy, having very recently lost my own sister--just three years older than Susanne and with a 20-year-old son and 25-year-old stepson--to breast cancer. May you cherish her memory and the parts of her that live on in you. May this passing somehow bring unexpected blessings into your lives. love, Natalie

I will miss Susanne who for over 15 years showed me her relentless passion for seeking out truth in nutrition, wellness, and homeopathic remedies; beauty in oil paintings and home décor; and energy in volunteering, organizing, and loving kindness.
I will miss our walks in Thornbury, summers at Eagle Lake, and family holiday celebrations around her Christmas tree or our Hannuka bush.
I am sharing a picture taken on the Thanksgiving weekend in 1998 along the Bruce Trail near Blue Mountain which captures the essence of Susanne's joy in life cradling Jason to share a handful of trail mix as she would cradle family, friends, and colleagues to share of herself, her boundless know how.
I will miss Susanne…
With Love,
Perry

To my dear friend Susanne.
There is so much that I could say, I don't know where to start.
We shared so many wonderful times together, and I am so grateful to have met you on that day in residence in the winter of 1978, where you had to sift through reams of clothing on the floor in your room to find me some hangers. Who would have thought, that moment marked the beginning of a life time friendship.
From that day forward in University we were inseparable. We had that special connection, that bond that brought us through 35 years of friendship. We lived together, we travelled together, we were each other's maid of honour, and we shared so many life-time moments together. We watched our children grow and become teenagers, and now young adults. We shared each Christmas together with our families, and we celebrated each other's birthdays every year.
We supported each other through thick and thin. No matter what, Susanne, you were always there for me. Even this last week, when you spoke to me, you wanted to know how things were with me. You always thought of others first before yourself. You gave so much of yourself to others. You were a super mom, and your children benefited from your relentless support, and perseverance to ensure they grow up to be wonderful human beings. You can rest knowing that you did your job, and have created two wonderful children. You were blessed with a wonderful husband Stan, who loved you, supported you, and was there for you to very end.
I am sure, your whole family will agree, that you were the pillar of strength for everyone, and you did everything you could to be there for everyone in your family. You were so strong, and I am so grateful that you had that strength to guide you to make a decision to rest peacefully.
You have not left me Susanne, I will always cherish our friendship and you will always be there in my heart....Susan

Susanne and I were not particularily close as children. Then we started to share hard times and found similarities in our experiences , so much that we were excited to share and anticipated what we would learn about ourselves next through the sharing of each others experience. Susanne, so wise, so gentle, so deeply caring would share her feelings, thoughts and although they were sometimes quite strong, they was always a message, a pearl of wisdom lying beneath it if I looked hard enough . I think there were a few pearls that emerged from my side too.. We would be quick to not give ourselves credit for the wisdom and acknowledged how spirit was speaking though us.
I felt so blessed to have Susanne to listen to my somewhat far out thoughts, dreams, and interpretations about life . I felt like I was in good company with her, that is she was willing to explore the unknown with a sense of fun and joy even when it was hard.
Good times - 20 years of raising children and holidays together created endless wonderful memories. I love you Sis !

A day in a Life of Susanne cared for all the creatures small and large, She loved doodle art, had the courage to ride a wild horse she owned that would bolt unpredictably, would spend hours playing hide and seek and building mazes in the hayfields with me, dance wildly and endlessly to Abba, had a one way to eat chocolate and vanilla ice cream " mix it, stir vigorously, imagine you were in the bowl and enjoy!". Fondly known by her family as "Duzabeen"
Two months of summer, slid by with days of lying in a boat or canoe floating from one end of the lake to another.
Summers with Oma and Opa "Die Enkelkinder" shown off to all, living and learning the German way... w LOVE+++

I felt your gentle loving spirit dance amongst all tonight as we celebrated your life. I found many moments of quiet as I gazed upon your resting place, your photo and the splash of ruby red flowers, your favorite colour brought tears streaming down my face. I miss you so much.... I love you Sis....

I light this candle to share the great and unforgettable memories that Susanne has blessed my life with. Susanne and I were on the coaching staff for her son Jason's soccer team. Anytime I reflect on the days we worked together, I do not see the sport aspect, but rather her passion and perseverance for the players, parents, and coaching staff. Susanne is a mentor that I will never forget, she taught me a lot of great life lessons that I use forever, I will especially never forget her saying "If you are going to do something, regardless of what it is always do your best."
She loved her family very much, she would glow when she would talk about her family.
Susanne, you will be missed and I will never forget you and all that you have taught me. I know you are in a better place.
God Bless
John Kassar

As you journey to the light, I remember with fondness a lifetime of laughter, joy and happiness as we 4 adventured the world with our children, like a song that was in perfect harmony .
I remember the cross country skiing trips where we spent more time in picnic sipping wine and eating cheese and crackers than skiing.
I remember the long deep philisophical chats about life, children, motherhood, sisterhood and how we always found profound meaning or laughter and often both..
I remember great times as couples sharing when it was hard and when it wasn't and Susanne raving about how she loved to be at the cottage and the joy it brought her to watch Vanessa and Jason play for hours and hours in the sand as they lazied the summers away together.
I love you so my sister and cherish every momemt I had with you . I miss you so...
