Obituary of William Burrows

Burrows, William (Bill) Lloyd It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Burrows on Sunday August 6th, 2017, very peacefully surrounded by his family. Loving husband of Carol for 53 years, father to Mark and Kristen Sencaj (Joe) and three beautiful grandchildren, Eric, Danica and Cole. Predeceased by his parents Lawson and Marjorie Burrows, his sister Beverly and brother Donald. Bill attended Ryerson enrolled in their Radio and Televsion program. After finishing school he began his career in the early days of television in May 1955 at CFPL in London Ont. Starting as a stage hand he worked his way to become a cameraman and moved to CFCF-TV in Montreal. There he enjoyed covering CFL and NHL games. He became a studio director and had the good fortune of working in the gondola at the Montreal Forum with Danny Gallivan and Dick Irvin. Later having been promoted to producer/director Bill moved to Toronto to work at CFTO-TV. He became known as the King of the game shows producing Definition, Headline Hunters and Eye Bet. He also travelled around the world producing documentaries with six ministers and priests of different faiths. He retired producing his most beloved show, The Hospital for Sick Children Telethon. He helped to raise close to 50 million dollars for the hospital . Bill and his family would like to thank Dr. Mateya Trinkaus, Dr. Stephen McLaren and the nurses at Markham Stouffville Hospital chemo clinic for their constant support for the past 4 years. Also a big thank you to the doctors and nurses on the palliative care ward at Markham Stouffville Hospital for all their compassion and care for the past 5 weeks. There will be a celebration of life to be held at Angus Glen Golf Club, Victoria Room, in Markham on Thursday, August 17th from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Chemo Clinic at Markham Stouffville Hospital.
