Bill and Betty Hood began attending Hagerman Mennonite Church later in life. They were a real gift to the congreation. We enjoyed seeing them dressed up and sitting together with Shirley on Sunday mornings. They were lively and humorous and related well to people of all ages in the church. They were like an informal welcoming committee for visitors. But what really endeared Betty to all of us was the platters of egg salad sandwiches she often made to share with us during coffee time after church! They were favourites for young and old.
We only rarely had the privilege of havng Betty with us for worship after Bill died and her health decined. But we remembered her in our prayers, and will always have fond memories of her years with us.

I always appreciated Betty as well Bill when they joined us in at Hagerman Mennonite. While being the eldest couple in our church, someone forgot to tell them. I will always remember Betty and Bll as the playful, energetic couple, whether welcoming newcomers with a warm handshake and smile, whether providing amazing egg salid sandwiches, or just laughing as a couple about stories as if they were 60 years younger. Now they are back together again.
- I will miss Betty and Bill too.

Mom, you were truly one special Mom. You were a very strong lady right to the end and full of humour and loved to have fun. You taught me all the right values and qualities I needed in life and I hope I made you proud. I am so glad you were my mother and I was always proud to be your daughter. I will miss you so so much and I will carry on everything you taught me except for knitting, crocheting and baking (sorry Mom). Say hi to Dad and Sally for. I hope you are truly in your happy place now. You will always be in my heart and forever on my mind. I sure wish they had phones in Heaven because I would be calling you right now. OXOXOXOXOX

Betty was such a warm, engaging member of Hagerman Church. For many years she and Bill could be found in the kitchen helping to wash dishes. We all loved her egg salad sandwiches. Because sleep was such a struggle for her for many years, I hope she. Is a very deep, restful eternal sleep.

Vacations are not always as peaceful andrelaxing as they should be. Really! Take it from my Mom.
The time was January of 2015. My Mom would have been 86 years old. We were on a vacation in the Bahamas to get a break from life's stresses, the first trip for my Mom since the passing of my father exactly one year before. There were five of us on the trip ... my Mom, Kelly, Gerard. Shirley and myself. It was a good time and relatively uneventful up until the time of 'her litte incident.'
Of course, my Mom had her own room and she would retire there each night after a night of hotel resort festivities. This normally included live band music, singing, drinking, joking, conversing with one another, and otherwise having a fabulous time. In my Mom's case though, periods of 'extended sitting and knitting' were also added to the mix.
Anyway, each morning we would pick up Mom for breakfast by knocking on her room door. Imagine the surprise one day when she opened the door and there she stood with an obvious black eye. How could this have possibly happened? It wasn't there the night before and to the best of our knowledge nobody else had been with her.
Well, it seems throughout the night she had somehow managed to roll out of bed (either in her sleep or while she was awake ... we don't know which), and hit her eye on the night stand. At least, that was the story and she stuck to it. Funny thing though, who would believe us. We didn't take any pictures of her while she was sporting the black eye.
