Mike brought a profound joy to his friends. He was generous with gifts and possessed a uniquely intelligent and hilarious sense of humour. After spending time with Mike, he'd leave you with a smile and lots to ponder. I think about our time together in high school often and wanted to send my thoughts to his family. May his memory be for a blessing.

Dear Karen & Family, I just heard the news about Michael’s passing. I wanted to send my heartfelt condolences. I haven’t seen Michael since the late 90’s. We went to Bible summer camp together. (He was my first big crush). I was 12 or 13 then. I remember him fondly. Michael was the older, tall, dark and handsome boy with long hair; smart, sharp-witted and always questioning authority (i.e. our camp counselors). He opened my eyes to Pink Floyd and Jesus Christ Superstar and Nine Inch Nails. He always made everyone laugh. All the boys wanted to be him. I've never forgotten Michael. Dear Karen, Mark, Martina and families: It is very sad to hear about Mike's passing. I remember him as a gentle kid who helped me out with some home chores one afternoon out of the goodness of his heart. He also introduced me to the Cheese Shop in Richmond Hill and took me on a tour of the place. His kindness is not forgotten.

Dear Karen, Mark and Martina and family, It is with a very heavy heart that I write this tribute to Mike. I will always remember the many summertime trips that myself, Shannon and Sherrene made to Toronto to visit their cousins when they were just children and then teenagers, we had great times at the parks, zoo, and playgrounds. Also the memorable visits that you and the three M'S made home to NS to visit us and their grandmother, Joyce. They all loved their grandmother's homemade molasses cookies especially Mike. As well as the swimming at Lake Mush a Mush, I am sure there was not a rock or an old log that was left unturned in Mike's quest to find the allusive newts and salamanders. I remember Mike's insistence that he should be able to take those newts back on the plane with him to Toronto, it took a lot of convincing to make him change his mind. Lots of good memories, too numerous to mention, but will never be forgotten. Claire and Larry
