Sherrill+Dave Henderson posted a condolence
Tuesday, February 14, 2017
The very sad news of David's passing just reached us at our Florida winter home. We were so fortunate to have become neighbours of the fine Lennon family when were were transferred from Montreal in 1970. One could not ask for better neighbours who also became friends. David's welcoming manner, always polite, always willing to help, clearly demonstrated the loving family that parents Joan and John had created and nurtured so well. It also seems clear that David and Helen provided the same superb level of love, learning, coaching and togetherness to their own children. No one can explain or understand why somebody so wonderful as David had to be taken from us so soon, but perhaps it is because his qualities are needed elsewhere, to somehow help nurture in others what is, sadly, so rarely seen. Our hearts and best wishes go out to all of David's family and friends who must now cope with his all-too-soon departure. May his love live on in all of you, and in others whom he will surely touch in his new life.

As a little girl I remember heading East from Calgary alongside my Dad for visits to his extensive family! Somehow among the many kisses and buttertarts Dave (& Helen) always seemed to make a connection with me. One of my favorite trips was going to their weddding, where even on that busy day Dave gave my Dad and I a big hug. He was a great example of love and laughter - I hope you have the strength to carry on the joy he gave so many. Sending strength and love from the West - Katie & Family

My sister Patsy married David's brother Jeff and that is how I met the Lennon Family. David immediately struck me as a kind, friendly, humorous fellow with an equally charming wife in Helen. As the years passed, the family grew and it was always a pleasure to see David and his family at the gatherings. He made us laugh, he made us relax and he brought a certain quality to these gatherings that made them all that much more special. David, I will certainly miss you. Thanks for the laughs and your friendship. My deepest sympathies to Helen and your family and all that those who loved you and admired your special qualities. May you rest in Peace. GOD Bless you . Linda

It's been many years since I've seen Dave or Helen, but I have many fond memories. Dave was a great guy who had a fantastic sense of humour and always seemed to have a solution to any problem. He was also stong as an ox. Helen, I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
Your friend always,

Dave, I am so grateful to have had you in my life. So many laughs, not just chuckles but deep tears-in-your-eyes, wrinkle-faced, out-of-breath belly laughs. I cherish that. Your devotion to family was unparalleled and you always made your friends feel like they were your family. Your very presence always lit up the room. Everyone always knew when you were there. We all knew it was going to be a better time if you were there. Always. I see the very same stuff in Liz, Kelly, Casey and Jessie. Good job my friend. Very good job.

I will always hold close the memories of many an impromptu Lennon gathering. Dave at the BBQ, family everywhere, neighbours dropping in and of course the Christmas Eves over the years. I chuckle at the memory of Dave unwrapping a Bluetooth speaker as his secret Santa gift. "What's this for?", he asked. A truly remarkable man from a remarkable family. We are so lucky to a part of your lives. Dave will be missed by everyone who had pleasure to know him. Much love.

Dear Davey, I loved that you were in my life. You were that guy the big laugh the big family the big hug. You made me laugh my guts out many many times . One of my first fancy parties I made my house all tidy we all dressed up and i was serving my sausage rolls and they were burnt on one side which of course I arranged them on a plate burnt side down. When i went into the kitchen to get another super fancy appetizer you went to the trouble of turning them all burnt side up !!. And then had the audacity of keeping a straight face. It was hilarious honestly. My memories of you will be of what a beautiful person you were . Your Helly your children your slippers you always knew what you wanted and loved. I hope we meet again xox
