I phoned Paul on his birthday this May and serenaded him with a birthday song. He recognized my voice and said, Audie, don't go climbing those ladders anymore.
Audie Gilmer was Paul and Florences neighbour in Georgetown. Audie asked me to relay this story as it was the last time he recognized her voice.
