Obituary of The Reverend Deborah Ban

Deborah Anne Ban, died Thursday, September 29, 2016, at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, ON., her husband, Craig Rumble and daughter Micah Braelyn Rumble, by her side, surrounded by the love and prayers of many. Deborah was the daughter of the late Dr. Joseph D. Ban and Arline J. Ban. She was the sister of Rev. Susan Ban Rutledge (Robert), and Dr. David Ban (Dee), and aunt to Samuel, Michael, Aaron, Jacob, Marie, Jennifer, Carolyn and Allie.. Deborah earned her B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from McMaster University, and her M.Div. from McMaster Divinity College, Hamilton, ON.. While at seminary, she was a student pastor at Dundas Baptist Church, Dundas, and Burlington Baptist Church, Burlington, ON. Earlier in her career she was a multi-faith chaplain at Kingston General Hospital, Kingston, ON, and an individual, couples and family counsellor with the Family Counselling Centre, Sarnia, ON.. Deborah was ordained in 1985 by Lorne Park Baptist Church, Mississauga, ON.. She also pastored at Temple Baptist (Banwell Community) Church, Windsor with Craig, and served with the American Baptist Churches U.S.A., as part of the pastoral team at Calvary Baptist Church, Denver CO.. Most recently, Deborah served joyfully as the Minister of Discipleship at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church, Toronto, ON.. Deborah's passion for her Lord guided her vocational investment in positions where God's love, grace, truth and justice could be shared. Among her life-verses were Micah 6:8, and John 10:10. Her last journal entry, less than two months before her passing, include these sentences: "Each day is a gift, each breath a new moment…How creative our God is and how life-giving nature can be. Pausing to soak in the moments is essential. Acknowledging the source of life is profound. God has got this!" Deborah lived the adventure of faith. She continues now to live it, fully in God's presence.
