Obituary of Thomas Webster
WEBSTER, Thomas Murray
It is with heavy sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear father, Thomas Murray Webster, at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre on July 1, 2016 in his 94th year, with his beloved wife and children at his bedside. Tom will be sorrowfully missed by his adored wife, Selena, (Sally), his five children - Dale (Eric), Keith (Colombe), Karen, Elaine (Ross) and Daniel (Claudine), his grandchildren - Katelyn, Chantal, Scott, Erin, Brendan, Thomas, Harrison, Daniel, Maggie, his great grandson, Caden, and his beloved siblings and their families, Glenn (Jean), Joan (Ralph) and his late brother Bruce (Phyllis).
Born in Port Elgin, Ontario and raised in Mimico, Ontario, Tom enlisted in the Canadian military during WWII as part of the Canadian Royal Regiment. He was wounded on the fields of Belgium. After the war, Tom graduated from Toronto's Military Rehabilitation School with a diploma in accounting. In 1959, he founded National Fire Ltd. which developed into a leading company in the fire safety industry with branches extending from coast to coast across Canada. Tom embraced every aspect of his life whole-heartedly. His gentle manner and great sense of humor left an impression on everyone he met. The family has been so grateful to the staff at Sunnybrook K3E Wing for the exceptional care, respect and dignity they provided to Tom during his time there. If you wish to honour Tom's memory the family would appreciate contributions be made to the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre.
