Ralph and I were so very saddened to hear of Russels passing. Every Saturday morning Russel and Marilyn
would start our day for the past 40 plus years. Marilyn would get her hair done and Russel would sit and
do his Saturday morning cross word puzzle with a cup of coffee, and hopefully if the puzzle was done before
Marilyns hair was done, then Russel would tell some joke. We have had the pleasure of cutting the hair
of all the Matheson family, from all of the kids to all of the grandchildren. Russel would tell the grandkids
" WHAT DO YOU SAY TO RALPH AFTER YOU GET YOUR HAIR DONE" and all the kids would respond
with the same, "PUT IT ON NANAS BILL"
Russell will be so very much missed but remember always SATURDAY MORNINGS
Marilyn we are so sad to hear of Russells passing, but knowing all of your daughters we know that
Russell will rest in peace that you will be taken care of with such love and closeness

We were so sad to learn of Russell's passing. We have such fond memories of seeing him at Andrew Rayner's wedding. He was a great cousin and friend to Paula and Ken. I know the Mathesons from church and both of them are wonderful and have been extremely kind to my family over the years. Russ will be remembered for his friendly smile, his date squares, his woodworking and his tireless work at St Andrews United and his fundraising efforts for SCAW. In 2012, when Russ heard that my 7 year old son Sam Atkins routinely donated his birthday money to SCAW, he arranged for a special presentation at church. Dave Dryden came and chatted about the charity during the service and Sam got to go to the front of the church to try and lift a heavy SCAW donation bag. After the service, during coffee hour, Russ asked Sam to stand on one of the tables so everyone could see him and Russ said a few words about Sam and presented him with one of his famous wooden trucks signed by both Dave and Russ, along with an autographed hockey photo. This kind and generous acknowledgement by Russ has been talked about by my family dozens of times over the years. He truly was a wonderful man. My deepest condolences to the family, especially Marilyn.
