Tom & i met in Grade 12, we were the only two guys in an all girl class of 30 students.Tom called me with the news that the Toronto Stock Exchange was hiring on the trading floor.I started on the post at 234 Bay. Tom started trading for McLeod Young & Weir,a short time later i was trading for Burns Bros. We kept in touch over the years and the last 15 years we talked daily.I visited Tom & Brenda in the hospital about 2 weeks ago,Brenda, who is a nurse, was by Tom's side 24 hours a day;to say the least, it was a very emotional visit. We will miss Tom very much, he was our friend for over 50 years.

When I think of the Popowich's I smile. The Grove Road group for so many years, street parties, garage parties,laughter and so much fun for the kids as well as the adults. I can see Tom roll his eyes as the next person was hit by a water ballon fired by Brenda. As time passes may Tom's memories provide comfort for all especially Brenda, Steve and David. Brenda and Tom were as a couple always up for a good time. Our kids have wonderful memories of fun and craziness. What a wonderful way to be remembered. I was saddened to hear of Tom's passing. We spent 30 years together as traders on the floor of the TSE. We also car pooled for a number of those years. Tom and I also spent time together playing ball and having a couple of beers. It was a wonderful friendship. Bay St. and the trading community have truly lost one of the good guys.
