I had the opportunity to vacation with Mike and his wife Kim this February in Mexico and in meeting Mike and shaking his hand and introducing ourselves we had already known each other for years, he was definitely the type of guy that made you feel comfortable and at ease with just one "hi".
I appreciate the time that I was able to meet Mike and I will forever remember our times shared Drinking, shopping and his "canadaian courage". I will greatly miss you at top club!
My family sends our sincerest condolences to his wife and daughter and everyone else that will miss his laughter and charisma.

I had only known Mike for two short years, but as anyone who knows Mike will tell you…you only have to know him for two minutes to love him. I'll never forget the time I was sitting in my backyard just hanging out when someone stepped onto my patio, walked across my yard, sat beside me and cracked a cold one…keep in mind the only way onto my patio is through my kitchen. You guessed it…Mike had walked into my house and into my yard with the ease and demeanor of someone I've known my whole life. That was the first summer I met Mike, but it felt like we knew each other forever.…that was just the way he made you feel when you were around him.
I moved next door to Mike just two short years ago, but I will forever miss hearing him say "what's goin' on buddy" each morning. I will forever miss walking into my garage to see Mike tinkering with his bike (yes he spent more time in my garage than his own).
One night while I was away with the family over March break I texted Mike to see what he was up to...he was responsible for feeding our fish while we were gone...the conversation went like this:
Mike: Hey buddy is that the fish food on the counter?
Me: Yep, you only have to give him 3 or 4 pellets. There's cupcakes in the fridge help yourself.
Mike: Oops, I missed the 3 pellet memo...I dumped the whole bag in. Already had 3 cupcakes and I'm watching your TV and drinking your liquor.
I will truly miss you're big smile and all the laughs you gave me. I will miss you buddy.

I was fortunate ennough to see Mike just a few short weeks ago on Easter Monday. I was going into the Metro in Whitby with my grandson Tyler (Jeff King's son) when a car pulled up, out hopped Mike and he asked if Tyler and I were going into the store. I replied "Yes" where Mike said "Great! I'll come in and talk to you guys!" Understand, I had seen Mike once in the last 10 years.
True to his word, he came into the store, tracked down Tyler and I and we spent the next 1/2 hour getting up to date on his life, his lovely wife who he plainly adored, his family (just back from Germany) and his job. He took the time to meet Jeff's son, asked him what he was doing, asked about his dad and explained who he was to his dad.
By the time we had finished, I was so completely up to date on Mike's life that the missing 10 years had disappeared. When Tyler and I returned home Tyler told his father immediately about meeting "this guy" at the store; me I commented to all about how strange the conversation had been, from Mike parking his car to spending such a long time with both Tyler and I. Now I consider myself so lucky having him reach out to both Tyler and I on a busy day. Thanks SLICK, you've done your parents proud and I for one am a better man for having known you.
